It is unlikely that there will be at least one person in Russia who would not be familiar with the work of the children's writer Samuil Yakovlevich Marshak. The works written by him are on the bookshelves in all houses in which there are small children. Such love of readers is explained by the fact that Marshak sincerely loved children and devoted most of his life to them. Therefore, it is not surprising that many of his works were filmed. Among them is "The Tale of the Goat". Marshak, in the course of writing it, used the techniques characteristic of Russian folk tales.

Author in brief

The future writer was born at the end of the nineteenth century in Voronezh. His father was a factory technician and an amateur inventor. Therefore, he tried to instill in children a love of knowledge. He taught them to appreciate the world around and people. Marshak became seriously interested in literature during the years of study at the gymnasium. In this field, he was actively supported by a language teacher. A major role in the fate of Samuil Marshak was played by the critic and art critic V. Stasov. He accidentally got acquainted with the literary works of young Marshak and helped him enter one of thePetersburg gymnasiums.

In 1904 he met M. Gorky. Marshak lived at his dacha in the Crimea. He used this time to develop his literary talent. He read books, talked with interesting people, improved his he alth.

After returning to St. Petersburg, Samuil Marshak taught children, collaborated with literary magazines. A few years later, he decided to finish his education. For this, he went to England. Passion for English ballads, legends and their translation into Russian will glorify him in the future.

Homecoming took place in 1914. In Russia, Marshak continued his literary activity. He also helped children in difficult situations.

It was Marshak who became the first employee of the Children's Literature Publishing House opened by M. Gorky. All this time he was engaged in translation and creation of his own works. They were popular with readers. "Twelve Months", "The Tale of the Silly Mouse", "The Cat's House", "The Tale of the Goat" - Marshak created these and other works especially for children.

"The Tale of the Goat": a summary

The play-tale of Samuil Marshak tells the story of a goat who lived for many years with his grandfather and grandmother in the yard. Once he heard the owners complain of old age and infirmity. It is already difficult for them to manage the household on their own, and there are no children and grandchildren who could help. Then the goat offers them his help. Grandfather and grandmother are surprised that theirthe goat can talk, but they give their consent.

The goat prepares dinner for grandparents, feeds them and puts them to bed. While the old people fall asleep, he sings a lullaby to them and spins. Then he decides to go to the forest for mushrooms, since it has been raining since morning. In search of mushrooms, the goat enters the thicket, where seven hungry wolves attack him. A fight ensues, during which the goat successfully fights off its many enemies. At this moment, he hears the voices of his grandfather and grandmother, who are calling him. They woke up, saw that the goat was gone, and went to look for it. The goat scares the wolves, tells them that his master is a harsh man and he will not stand on ceremony with them. The wolves run away in fear. Grandparents find their pet and they all return home together.

Samuil Marshak "The Tale of the Goat": characters

There are ten characters in this work. Grandfather and woman are elderly people who have lived a long life. They did not have the strength to run the household: go for water, chop wood, heat the stove, cook food, clean the hut. They regret not having children to take care of them.

Goat is a character endowed with a number of qualities characteristic of people. He is smart, smart, brave. He can talk, walk on his front legs, can cook, chop wood, spin.

Wolves are negative characters. They are hungry, angry, aggressive. However, their attempt to eat the goat backfires on them. As the story progresses, the readersees how they quarrel with each other and refuse to obey the leader.

Samuil Marshak, creating animal characters, used the technique typical of Russian folk tales. Their characters - representatives of the animal world - were also endowed with human traits.

In 1960, the film studio "Soyuzmultfilm" filmed the work of Samuil Marshak "The Tale of the Goat". Fifteen minute puppet cartoon withof the same name was filmed under the direction of director Vadim Kurchevsky.

In 1983, the same film studio released another cartoon with a similar plot called "There was a goat with my grandmother." The script written by Korney Chukovsky was based on a Russian folk tale.

Reader opinions

"The Tale of the Goat" is one of Marshak's most famous works. It is studied by elementary school students in the lessons of literary reading. Children enjoy reading and analyzing it. It is not uncommon for school plays to be staged based on this play-tale.
