After leaving school, the future famous director entered the Dublin Institute of Technology and received a degree in media arts. Initially, Moore did not think about building a career in the film industry, but just a couple of years later he changed his mind radically. World debut

The aspiring cinematographer took up the production of commercials, one of them was the mini-movie "Apocalypse", the timing of which was one and a half minutes. The theme of the video was an advertisement for the Sega Dreamcast. Moore's work impressed the management of 20th Century Fox so much that his representatives offered the director to shootFull-length action film "Behind Enemy Lines", based on real events during the military conflict in Bosnia. The budget of the tape was only 17 million, later it was increased to $40,000,000. The film's rating was only 6.40 according to IMDb. The director himself admitted that the film turned out to be superficial, since the theme of the war suggests a more thoughtful and deep approach. But critics met him quite positively, according to their judgments, if we consider the work strictly as an action movie, then Moore's film can be called an excellent example of how, on a modest budget, you can shoot a fascinating and beautiful spectacle with a duet of eminent actors. By the way, John Moore attracted Russian actor Vladimir Mashkov to participate in the production of the film.

Remake of "Flight of the Phoenix" by Robert Aldrich

The next project was the adventure drama Flight of the Phoenix, a remake of Robert Aldrich's film of the same name, filmed in 1965. Screenwriters Edward Burns and Scott Frank introduced a female character missing from the original film and moved the action from the Sahara to the Gobi. The film about the fate of passengers who survived a car accident and tried to assemble an aircraft from the wreckage was not saved by the participation of famous actors: Dennis Quaid, Giovanni Ribisi, Miranda Otto and Hugh Laurie. It turned out to be a commercially failed project: with the amount of $45,000,000 spent on production, the box office was only $21,000,000.

The return of the franchise to life - "Omen 666"

Despiteunsuccessful "Flight", 20th Century Fox did not stop working with the director. John Moore is shooting the third movie - the mystical horror "Omen", which more than paid off at the box office. The picture turned out magnificent, sometimes leading to ecstasy. The tape amazes the beholder with the beauty and organic nature of the video sequence. In cinema, everything works for the entourage. According to the director, in recent years, a huge number of cataclysms have occurred in the world - natural and man-made, it is impossible not to notice this. So assessed what is happening around John Moore. The director, based on his author's views, changed the very idea of the embodiment of universal evil. The film adaptation of David Selzer's work was starring Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles, David Thewlis, Amy Hack and Harvey Stevens, the same colorful actor who starred in the 1976 horror film of the same name.

With he althy optimism

In 2008, the director's next project, "Max Payne" with M. Wahlberg and O. Kurylenko, was released. The film is positioned by critics as the correct adaptation of a computer game.

Also, many experts were delighted with the director's skill, in their opinion, John Moore's films cannot be failures, since he althy optimism is inherent in him. With even a frankly bad script in hand, Moore tries his best. In the case of Payne, the same story came out. A terribly underdeveloped script, leaving much of the development of storylines and character motivations unfinished and incomprehensible, did not prevent the director from making an excellent movie. Director pleasedfans of the game to the fullest. Photo, John Moore with all the participants in the filming keeps on his desktop. He still speaks warmly of all members of the film crew.

The film was initially rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America, however, after an urgent request from Moore, who cut some particularly violent scenes, the rating was changed to PG-13. Therefore, the army of fans of the picture has replenished with an impressive number of teenagers.

Before the impressive break, the director managed to shoot three Hollywood films: the action drama Northern Lights, the successful sequel and the rollicking sequel Die Hard 5 and Virus Carriers. But the most significant among the recent works of the director is the excellent thriller of social significance "Artificial Intelligence" (2016).
