Many of us love to watch movies. When sometimes completely unimaginable things happen on the screen, you admire not only special effects, costumes and a brilliant plot, but also the titanic work behind a beautiful picture.

Often the viewer is interested in how the film was shot, how the castings were held, the scenery looked like, who is in charge on the set. Today we will lift the veil of the "cinematic mystery" and tell you how the film is being produced.

Camera crews

All members of the film crew are one big family. And the number of people in this family directly depends on the complexity of the film. All participants are divided into groups that are either in the main composition or in the attached one. The main division goes into the following categories:

1. Creative team.
2. Administration.
3. Attachable composition.

The team directly involved in creativity consists of the director (in large-scale films - directors), screenwriters, actors and variousfilm production consultants. Actors are divided into main cast and extras. Stunt group and operators belong to the same category.

The administration is not involved in the artistic component, but regulates its work. It includes producers, film set administrators and the director of the picture.

The following workshops can be attributed to the attached composition: make-up, wardrobe, sound, music, lighting, assembly and technical.

Very often doctors, security guards, handymen, cooks and drivers work on the set under the contract.

The director is the head of everything

The key link on the set is, of course, the director. He organizes everything: the work of cameramen and actors, camera angles and staging. Ultimately, on the screen, we observe exactly the director's vision of the picture. And 90% of the film's box office success and its cultural value depend solely on the work of the director.

On the importance of actors

In addition to the breathtaking scenery in the background, high-quality scenery and other things, we first of all pay attention to the actors. They are the main visual, emotional and narrative component of film history. Many cinematic masterpieces were filmed on a low budget, indoors, with little to no scenery, but the charisma and talent of the actors made these films brilliant.

Working with actors is not only a set, it all starts with casting. From skillfully selected"caste" depends on which characters we end up seeing on screen. And it's not even about appearance (make-up artists and costume designers skillfully cope with this), but about the professionalism and style of the performer's game.

About special effects

Already in the second half of the twentieth century, the first high-quality and realistic special effects began to be added to the cinema. And thirty years later, at the dawn of the twenty-first century, the share of special effects in the Hollywood cinema market has increased significantly. Now not a single massive and popular masterpiece can do without computer graphics. What does the set look like for special effects? Photos can be seen below.

You can't do without anyone

The most important components on the set have already been said. But that's not all. Many people are interested in what professions people are needed on the set. We will tell you about the most popular.

• Make-up artists. Their task is to mask the imperfections in the appearance of the actors, transform them or make artistic makeup that will change the performer beyond recognition.
• Operators. Under the strict guidance of the director, cameramen shoot scenes on film. The set for them is a location that needs to be filmed from the required angle.
• Decorators. Sometimes decorators face simple tasks, sometimes complex ones. In some cases, they act as set designers for the shoot, and sometimes they have to rebuild absolutely incredible sets from scratch.
• Costumers. Will the character look stylish and organic,directly depends on the costumers.
• Stuntmen. If action, stunts and a chase are expected on the screen, then you can’t do without a stuntman. CGI will not be able to create a realistic and lively fight, as martial arts professionals and techniques can do.
• Understudies. Scenes that for some reason cannot be played by the main actor are played by stunt doubles. They are chosen by their external resemblance to the character.
