Basic rules for still life painting

To begin with, you should decide what a still life actually is. We can say that a still life is an image of a three-dimensional composition of household items. An artist must be able to draw a three-dimensional shape on a two-dimensional plane.

This technique has its own characteristics, therefore, when drawing an Easter still life, you should follow certain rules:

1) The best way to express the shape of objects is to use the right light.

In addition to paint, you will need a sheet of A3 or A4 paper (if you paint with watercolors, then the paper must be special watercolor), brushes of different sizes, a pencil with softness B or B2, an eraser, water. Easter still life. How to draw?

Before you start drawing, you need to decide which specific objects will act as nature. Still life should convey the essence of the great holiday, with its traditions and rituals. Therefore, the best option would be an image of an Easter cake tied with a ribbon,decorated eggs and willow twigs. All items should be placed on a towel.

Draw an Easter still life in the following order:

1) You need to start by sketching a pencil drawing. To do this, mark the Easter cake, its upper part, with a simple pencil. Next, add the ribbon with which it is tied. Under the knot, you can add a small flower. Then we mark the towel on which the cake is located, and the folds. Draw three eggs on the towel. For Easter cake, add a bouquet of willow twigs, scattering leaves and buds over them.

2) Next, start painting with watercolors. The paint should be diluted with water using a palette. First, decorate the cake with brown, darkening the left side. Then we darken the icing and draw a sprinkle. Decorate the ribbon with pink or red paint.

3) Darken the background around the Easter cake with a diluted blue color. Then color the towel and eggs with the desired color, darkening the base of each egg.

4) We darken each willow leaf with a diluted green color, and decorate the base of each blossoming bud with purple.

The final step is to apply additional shadows from each item.

Draw a still life with a pencil

If you need to make a light sketch, for example, for a holiday card or a child's school assignment, then you can draw an Easter still life with a pencil.

First, you also need to choose whatspecifically will be shown in your drawing. For example, let it be a festive cake on a wicker plate, Easter eggs and a sprig of cherries.

First sketch out the Easter cake by drawing two parallel lines and a hat on top. Then we make streaks of sugar icing, after which we finish the shape of the plate in the form of a circle around the Easter cake and several eggs. After drawing the bottom of the plate, you can add a few more eggs on the other side. On top of the glaze we finish the sprinkle in the form of circles and sticks. And since our plate is wicker, we make an imitation of wickerwork. On the side we draw a sprig of blossoming cherries. You can also add a congratulatory phrase and give the resulting drawing to your loved ones.
