Autobots and Decepticons, which have long filled the toy stores, also occupied the cinema screens for a long time with the release of the first Transformers movie. The names of robots such as Optimus Prime and Megatron became also known as Harry Potter and Voldemort. Cars, which are actually aliens that turn into humanoid creatures, fell in love with the audience. And the yellow Chevrolet Camaro named Bumblebee has become a favorite of many.

Very soon, the fifth part of the film series will be released on the screens, it's time to review the previous parts. Do you know what the characters of "Transformers" look like? Are the names familiar too? Let's check it out on the latest Transformers: Age of Extinction movie. Moreover, the events of the new tape are a continuation of the previous one.

A little about the movie itself

"Age of Extinction" sets the film series in a new direction. After the invasion of Chicago, the Autobots fell out of favor. The film touches on the theme of the deteriorated relationship "people / transformers". The names of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and the team are becoming known to the whole world, because these are the names of dangerous creatures.

It is noteworthy that Age of Extinction touches on the diverse mythology of Transformers, the plot covers a significantly larger number of events than the first three films, which were built solely on the battle of the Autobots against the Decepticons. A new sub-species appears - the Dinobots - further evidence that the film's team is serious about moving away from the previous storyline.

Given that the director was originally going to stop at three films, we can assume that this is a new era for the film "Transformers"

Autobot names

Optimus Prime is the wise and formidable leader of the Autobots. At the beginning of the film, he appears as a rusty, crippled Marmon truck, but later transforms into a Western Star 4900 mainline tractor.

Bumblebee. From the very beginning, he was a loyal assistant to Optimus Prime and a protector of humanity. Despite the damaged voice module, Bumblebee communicates actively, switching radio stations and selecting suitable songs. It initially appears in the film as a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro before becoming a shiny 2014 Camaro.

Ratchet. By nature, he is not a fighter, but is a valuable member of the team - a medic. He decides to side with the Autobots, because he feels that they have every chance to achieve peace - the only thing that really interests him. Transforms into a Hummer H2 Rescue SUV, once again showing his peace-loving attitude.

Hound. A cartoon character who, despite his intimidating appearance, loves to call the Earth his home and, like a child, enjoys simple things. In the film, he appears as a heavily armed gunner with a robotic beard and a fondness for using bullets as cigars. His mechanized appearance is an Oshkosh tactical vehicle.

Crosshairs - master-at-arms, parachutist. He replaces Ironhide, who died in the third part of the film. Crosshairs is not a big fan of Earth and doesn't mind leaving it on occasion. Transforms into a 2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette.

Drift. Initially, he was on the side of the Decepticons, but then went over to the Autobots. In the film, he appears as a calm samurai, skillfully wielding swords and practically unparalleled. Transforms into a stunning 2013 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse and loves to drift around the city on occasion.

Brains. A small robot that looks like a mad scientist. Transforms into a laptop, but rarely appears in this image. Like Drift, he used to be on the side of the Decepticons, but, realizing his mistake (or tired of constant pressure), he went over to the Autobots. In the film, he is captured by people in order to hack the Autobot genome.

The characters Hound, Crosshairs and Drift appear for the first time in the Transformers MCU.

Decepticon names

Beware the following list maycontain spoilers!

Galvatron. One of the few transformers in the "Age of Extinction" that is not a creation of Cybertron. He was created by humans as a replacement for the Autobots and protector of the Earth. Well armed, but embittered and becomes the new leader of the Decepticons. Transforms into an Optimus Prime-like 2014 Freightliner Argosy.

Stinger. Also, like Galvatron, is not a creation of Cybertron. He is considered Bumblebee's main rival. He is not afraid to go into battle against the Dinobots. When not trying to destroy the Autobots, roaming the roads disguised as a 2013 Pagani Huayra.

Junkhip. A Decepticon soldier whose sole purpose of existence is to fight the Autobots. Transforms into a garbage truck.

Lockdown. Despite being on the Decepticon list, Lockdown is technically not part of either side. He is a ruthless intergalactic bounty hunter who has been hired to hunt down one of the Autobots hiding on Earth. Who hired him and who he hunts is not disclosed. Transforms into a 2013 Lamborghini Aventador.

Dinobot names

Grimlock. The stubborn leader of the Dinobots. Doesn't like to listen to anyone, including Optimus Prime. More bosses hate Decepticons. Transforms into a powerful metal Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Skorn. Head of destruction on the Dinobot team. And this applies not only to his duties in the group, but also to his character. A deadly robotic opponent, the Spinosaurus is even more dangerous.

Slug. He considers himself second only to Grimlock. A fierce fighter who destroys everything in his path. When not arguing with Grimlock in robot form, transforms into a powerful mechanical Triceratops.

Strafe. Air Chief in the form of an incredibly powerful Pteranodon.

Slash. Cunning hunter Velociratops, Hound's partner.

Instead of a conclusion

Some of the robots had only a couple of seconds of screen time, someone won a significant share of the plot, but thanks to the efforts of the team, each of them - Autobots, Decepticons and Dinobots, on the screen look amazingly detailed and impressively powerful.

As with previous films, the creators tried to include as many characters as possible, to the delight of fans of the Transformers film series. The names of the characters of the beloved story were considered by us in this article.
