Fans of the Marvel series will surely appreciate this article. Today we will talk about one of the heroes, and specifically about the Warrior. Who is this character, what is his role and how has he changed over time? Read all of this below.
Let's get acquainted
Marvel's Warrior is a popular comic book superhero. The literal translation of the character's name is "war machine". This character first appeared in comics in 1979. Its creator is J. Byrne, B. Leighton and D. Michelin. The Warrior Armor was designed by K. Hopugd and L. Kaminsky. Sometimes the hero is found under the pseudonym Rowdy (Rhoads). In some animated series, he plays the main role. T. Howard played Rhodes in the 2008 film Iron Man.
The world of Marvel comics rewarded this character with such powers: savvy in aviation, the ability to pilot aircraft, the ability to conduct hand-to-hand combat. The armored suit of the hero gives him additional abilities. This is superhuman strength, invulnerability, the ability to fly at high speed and use repulsor energy. Armament of the Warrior "Marvel" also presentsimpressive. He is proficient with weapons of various calibers, missiles and lasers.
Creation
Marvel's Iron Warrior originally appeared as a minor character. It wasn't until issue 170 of 1983 that Rhodes donned the Iron Man armor. This happened after Iron Man stopped fighting alcohol addiction. Until 1992, Rhodey continued to appear only in some episodes. The second time he puts on armor after the death of Iron Man. However, Tony Stark returns, and War Machine continues on his own in a separate comic book series after a successful stint with the West Coast Avengers. In addition to his own series, the Warrior often appears in the episodes of others and interacts with characters.
Thanks to the Iron Man: Director of S. H. I. E. L. D. the character gets a separate storyline. In addition, in the latest series, the Warrior completely replaces Iron Man as the main character. Thanks to this, the second series dedicated to the adventures of Rhodey begins. It consists of 12 episodes, after which our hero joins the Secret Avengers team.
Original Look
The hero was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Initially, the character is a simple lieutenant of the Marine Corps, who is serving in Asia. During a combat operation, the pilot gets stuck in the jungle, as his plane is shot down by enemy troops. After that, the hero falls into the rear of the enemy. Soon the Warrior meets Iron Man, who tells him his story of escaping from the enemyWong Chu camp. Together, taking up arms against the soldiers, Rhodey and Iron Man learn that there is an enemy missile base nearby. They destroy it and return to their comrades-in-arms. Rhodes is sent to a field hospital in Saigon. Stark arrives there to thank the hero for his help and offer him a job as a personal pilot. Rhodey continues to fight in the Vietnam War, but after it ends, he accepts Stark's invitation and becomes his personal pilot, close friend, and aviation manager at Stark's International.
New hero
Due to the illegal actions of the famous villain Obadi Stein, Tony Stark's company is overgrown with large debts and loses international ties. Unexpected problems at work and setbacks in his personal life lead to the fact that Stark begins to abuse alcoholic cocktails. In the next episode, Magma defeats a drunken Tony, which forces Rhodes to put on the Iron Man suit to destroy Magma. After some time, Stark himself asks our hero to become the new Iron Man. The Warrior and scientists from Stark International decide to sink the remaining armor to the bottom of the ocean so that Stane and S. H. I. E. L. D. do not get access to it. While Rhodey fights the villains (Radioactive Man, Mandarin, Zodiac), he is technically supported by Dr. Morley Ervin. Rhodes soon becomes part of the West Coast Avengers team and begins to take an active part in the "Secret War" in the Other World.
Unification
Parallel to this, Dr. Morley and his sister Dr. Clytemnesta are planning a new electronics firm in California with Roode. To make this possible, Rhodey has to start working to be able to maintain his armor and save money to finance the company. Watching this, Stark decides to participate too. As a result, the four heroes create Circuits Maximus. At the same time, James Rupert Rhodes is increasingly suffering from severe headaches, he becomes irritable and aggressive. Despite the fact that Stark does everything for the technical support of the armor, after the words of hatred from Rhodey, he begins to believe that he wants to return the suit to himself. The decisive moment is the battle with Vibro, during which the War Machine ("Marvel") cannot cope with emotions, and Stark has to put on a new test armor in order to somehow interfere with Rhodes.
The Warrior asks Henry Pym for help. The Doctor sends him to the Shaman of the Alpha Squad. Rhodey is cured after a mystical experience of exploring the otherworldly dimension. The cause of the headaches turns out to be Rhodey's self-flagellation for not being worthy to wear the Iron Man armor. Meanwhile, Stein blows up Circuits Maximus. As a result of the explosion of the bomb, Morley Ervin dies, and Rhodes is slightly injured. Tony Stark dons armor to get even with Stane.
Life outside of comics
Warrior appears in the animated series Iron Man, where he plays one of the key roles. Also our herowas seen in a cameo in the 1994 film Spider-Man, and in 1996 in The Incredible Hulk and X-Men. Voiced by Daniel Bacon, James Rupert appears in the animated series Iron Man: Armored Adventures.
Also, the Warrior from "Marvel" is in the animated series "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes". In the story, the hero teams up with Wolverine, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, the Thing, and Spider-Man to fight Kang the Conqueror. The team had to act alone, as the Avengers at this time could not help due to the fact that they were captured by the villain. The final scene of the cartoon ends with the battle of the War Machine from Marvel and Galactus. Other heroes from both sides also participate in the battle.
Summing up the results of the article, I would like to say that the Warrior ("Marvel") is one of the most interesting heroes of comics and animated series. Initially, he was assigned a secondary role, but he managed to fall in love with the audience and deserve the leading roles.
