Comrade in a tough fate, Before I close my mouth…

A poet in all ages and now

Like an inconsolable orphan.

Poet Sergei Ivanovich Polikarpov wrote these lines in memory of his departed colleague, writer and poet Dmitry Blinsky. Today, these words are relevant in relation to the author himself. Sergei Polikarpov was not famous throughout the vast USSR, and now his creations are far from known to everyone, but his work is permeated with sincerity, which cannot but bribe the reader.

Poet biography

Sergey was born in the village of Kuzminki, Ukhtomsky district in 1932. The war that he survived remained in his memory forever, as well as in the memory of other children of the war years. He wrote lines that reflect the pain of a lost childhood.

And let the heart flare up in a gallop, To headwind memorystir up…

Unforgettable country, childhood, I never lived in it, fabulous, never lived.

The boy was born into a family of workers and he himself initially followed in the footsteps of his parents, graduating from the Moscow Technical School of the Ministry of Ferrous Metallurgy in 1952, then -Zhytomyr anti-aircraft artillery school. After graduating from the army, Sergei realized that he wanted to connect his life with literature, and entered the Moscow Literary Institute. Gorky. Many talented people studied here, including Rozhdestvensky, Yevtushenko and other famous personalities who became poets, writers, and critics. Sergei Polikarpov graduated from the institute in 1963.

The poet's creative path

Sergey has been in print since 1950. He wrote many poems, poems, books. His creations were published in "Fiction" - a publishing house that recognized far from all writers and poets. Cooperation with him was in itself the highest appreciation of Sergey Polikarpov's talent. He connected his whole life with literature and poetry, was a member of the House of Creativity of Writers, worked in magazines, translated literary works from different languages of the peoples of the CCCP (Uzbek, Kazakh, Ossetian). He wrote a whole list of books, including:

  • "Shackled Thunders" (collection of poems);

Not only a talented poet, but also a worthy person, Sergei never criticized his colleagues, did not recognize gossip. Slender as a gymnast, with a strong-willed chin, he always behaved with dignity and pride. The poet Sergei Polikarpov was also a wonderful father - he loved his son very much and tried to devote a lot of time to him.

The country did not know its poet…

After the release of the film "Zastava Ilyich", the country learned many names that are still known to everyone, even to a person inexperienced in poetry: Rozhdestvensky, Akhmadullina, Yevtushenko, Kazakova, Voznesensky and many others. These are people whose talent was recognized by the entire USSR precisely because of the released film. It was a kind of advertising for poets, which gave them the opportunity to become famous, to declare themselves to the whole USSR. However, the premiere of the picture brought bitter disappointment to another talented poet, whose potential was in no way inferior to any of the above people - the poet Sergei Polikarpov.

The poetry evenings that formed the basis of the film were a kind of competition for poets. They were extremely successful, young talents received their share of enthusiasm and applause, no one was booed, which happened at such evenings. When Sergey came out and read several of his poems, lively, passionately, strongly, the hall exploded with delight. Perhaps none of the poets who spoke earlier had such success (and Sergey Polikarpov was one of the last to read his poems). They admired his talent, they took autographs from him and for a long time did not want to let him leave the stage, they asked to read more and more. It was an undeniable, pure success.

And all the more bitter was the realization that the filmmakers simply cut Sergei out of the film, dividing the applause that he received among other poets. Sergey was unpleasantly surprised, because he was so looking forward to the release of the film.

Conclusion

However, life's hardships and injustice did not force Sergey Polikarpov to break with poetry, because he lived it and did not get tired of creating, although sometimes he experienced creative downturns. He devoted his whole life to her and wrote until his death, which came to him in 1988. The poet died in Moscow, where he was buried, but his work continues to live in the memory and hearts of readers.
