Throughout the history of mankind, millions of books have been written by our ancestors and contemporaries. They are read, taken away for quotes, they are stored in a library or in the cloud storage of the Internet. And all that unites smart people is reading books and watching a good movie. We will talk about one of these masterpieces, the book "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and the film based on the paper edition, in the article.
Some information about the book
Literally translated from Swedish, the title sounds like "Men who hate women". This is a detective novel, the first in the Millennium trilogy of books written by Swede Stieg Larsson.
The book related to the dragon tattoo was awarded the prestigious Glass Key Award and the Galaxy British Book Awards. It was filmed twice, the first time the film was shot in the author's homeland, and in 2011 the American version was released, directed by DavidFincher. The main roles in the project went to Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.
History of Creation
At 15, Stieg Larsson witnessed the rape of a girl named Lisbeth. For some reason, he could not help her and had to unwittingly watch what was happening. According to The Stig, he has been tormented by remorse all his life, which prompted him to write the novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
To create the main characters of the book, as Larrson himself says, he was inspired by his favorite children's story - "Pippi Longstocking", which was written by Astrid Lindgren. Salander is a reflection of Pippi, and in the original Larrson's character has red hair instead of black hair. References to the children's book can be seen more than once in the book. For example, on the door of the apartment of the heroine Lisbeth is written "V. Kula". That was the name of the villa where Peppy lived.
There are several books on the bookshelves in Gottfried Wanger's house and, as you might guess, these are "Pippi Longstocking" and "Kale Blomkvist and Rasmus". A stray cat named Cherven also migrated from the books of Astrid Lindgren.
Reference to coffee
Most of the characters in the novel drink coffee permanently. In the Russian translation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, this word occurs about 113 times. Everything is explained by the personal addiction of the author of the book and his wife Eva Gabrielsson to the ancient drink.
In her book Millennium, The Stig and Me, the writer's civil wife notes that coffee is their favorite drink withchildhood. The author of the book first tried the drink at the age of five, treated by his grandmother.
