summary of Gavroche
summary of Gavroche

Victor Hugo's novel "Les Misérables" is not just a book about the old days, about the hard life of ordinary people. This is the cry of the soul, this is an ode to courage and nobility, this is the song of the revolution. The author, a novelist and humanist, announced with his works a new era in which there is no place for lies and deceit, baseness and crime. He tells how difficult it is for a person to follow the new path he has chosen. However, if he does not turn off it, but continues to move along a difficult path, then only then will he become a Man with a capital letter.

“Les Misérables” is a book that you want to read excitedly in one breath, without letting go. We admire the heroes, weep over their destinies and marvel at their willpower. That is why not a single summary can convey that charming and tragic atmosphere of France. Gavroche is not one of the main characters of the novel, however, this is a very successful and vivid image.

The story of Gavroche

A little boy who was not spoiled by life at all, with living parentsturns out to be on the street: they could not and did not want to support him. But he learned to survive: to get bread, to keep warm in the cold, to protect himself. Brash on the tongue, cheerful, brave and sly, he is nevertheless sympathetic and kind. The story "Gavroche", an excerpt from the famous novel, describes how a Parisian homeless tomboy dies on a barricade during riots in the city in June 1832. Nevertheless, he served a great cause - the revolution, until his last breath collecting cartridges from the pockets of dead soldiers for the supporters of General Lamarck. And even under the whistle of stray bullets, he continues to joke. Small injuries do not distract him from his work, and only death forced him to stop his work.

To retell the summary, Gavroche lived in an unfinished wooden sculpture of an elephant, which was located on the Place de la Bastille. There he brought his brothers (although he did not know who they were to him), taking pity on them on a deserted street. He takes care of them, feeds them, warms them. The image of this cheerful boy can be called collective, because he personified the Parisian gamen of the nineteenth century, the class that Hugo so sympathized with. "Gavroche", the summary of which we retold above, is one of the most beautiful parts of the novel.

But the writer invites the reader to get acquainted with other characters. A convict with a good heart Jean Valjean, hardworking Cosette, ardent Marius - they only emphasize the plight of the country, for which Victor Hugo was rooting with all his heart. "Gavroche", a summarywhich will not leave anyone indifferent, shows an example of selfless work for the common good. This is a story about a strong, albeit young man.

Hugo and his outcasts

Many schoolchildren prefer to read the novel "Les Misérables" not in full, but in abbreviated form. Yes, sometimes the book is difficult to read, it is not easy to follow the fate of the main characters in constant persecution. The cruel injustice endured by the characters is especially painful in the heart. Is it able to convey a summary?! Gavroche dies, but other homeless guys remain, whose names have not remained in the memory of the city. And every little man is another tragedy, another bloody wound on the body of the country.

Only those who have already read the whole novel can be advised to read its summary. Gavroche and other characters in the book will tell you about their experiences and teach you eternal truths. Themes that the great author tried to convey to us.
