Life is changeable. The well-known parable “It will not always be so” tells about this. There are several versions of the instructive story. The article describes a parable whose characters are the great painters Raphael and Michelangelo.
Creative Crisis
One day Michelangelo visited his colleague. It was on a cloudy autumn day. Michelangelo was in the deepest creative crisis. The muse left the artist a long time ago, and he, in despair, asked a friend for a rope. When asked by Raphael about why he needed this item, the man, whose name was subsequently included in all kinds of encyclopedias, replied that only death could save him from suffering. And since the painter was young and quite he althy at that time, it seemed that he would have to live, and therefore suffer, for many, many more years.
Raphael reacted to his friend's request in a very cryptic way. The creator of the "Sistine Madonna" grinned mysteriously and went to the back rooms of his luxurious home. From there, for another good half an hour, the desperate artist heard the roar and sounds of the fall of giant canvases. Finally the owner of the house returned. He looked tired, buthappy. In Raphael's hands was by no means a rope. The painter held in his hands a picture of extraordinary beauty, which depicted some of the biblical scenes. At the bottom, in oil paint, was written: “It won’t always be like this.”
Change
Somewhat surprised, the guest accepted the painting from the hands of the owner. Raphael reminded his colleague that despair and dreams of death are the greatest sin. "It won't always be like this!" - said the great artist and advised to hang the picture in the house, in the most prominent place. After all, its name contained worldly and Christian wisdom.
It wasn't long before the good news came to Michelangelo's house. One of the distant relatives, whose existence not only the artist himself, but also his father, and even his father's father, did not know, died. The only heir was a painter - a man who not so long ago, out of need and creative emptiness, contemplated suicide.
Michelangelo became rich. And soon he was fully convinced of the veracity of the words "It will not always be so." Because he got even better. The artist was entrusted with painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. His paintings were exhibited in the best galleries of the country. He became not only rich, but also famous. And therefore, no longer needed a picture called “It won’t always be like this.”
Again with Raphael
Michelangelo went to his friend to return the gift. The artist was sure that nothing bad would happen in his life from now on. However, Raphael did not take the picture. Looking sadly at his friend, he said: “Your worksknown throughout Europe. You are rich. But keep in mind that this will not always be the case.”
Subsequently, the great Italian painter was convinced more than once of the veracity of the words of his colleague. There were many ups and downs in his life.
“It will not always be like this” is a parable that arose in the old days. In the cultures of different peoples, there are different variations of this legend. The story in this article deals with the life of a sixteenth-century artist. However, the parable is still relevant today. After all, life is changeable.
