This tiny Hedgehog with a tiny bundle and a big dream for the evening - to visit the Bear cub - is one of the most touching characters of Soviet animation. And the most controversial. Actually, the Hedgehog was the hero of more than one cartoon, but it is the story of how he got into the fog zone that does not leave indifferent… adults.

Not a children's cartoon

For several decades, parents have been saying that the kids remain completely indifferent to the wanderings of the Hedgehog in the fog. Apparently, the director and artist chose the wrong color scheme for the cartoon: it turned out to be somehow grayish, gloomy and not perceived by the children's audience.

Often, parents have to torment the baby with questions about what the Hedgehog sees in the fog, where he is going, why he turned into the fog. Children respond, but somehow without enthusiasm. And experts say that there is too much philosophy in the ten-minute saga about the Hedgehog, one even gets the impression that the main character himself is a bachelor of some eminent university with a philosophical bias.

And even though "Hedgehog in the Fog" is recognized as a cartoon of all time andpeoples, a five-year-old kid is still too early to watch it, it remains incomprehensible even for children of 10 years old. At the age of 25, you already begin to realize a little its meaning.

Although… Children are different for children. The hedgehog, wandering in the fog, asks the same questions that any kid can stun his parents with.

Owl, black elephant - this, according to experts, is a symbol of problems and difficulties, even dangers on the way to your soul. Fog also means something, namely, self-doubt. And the Hedgehog itself, with its soft pliable character, symbolizes a little man striving for his truth with all his might, but at every step amenable to outside influence.

On the other hand, doesn't it happen in nature: animals can easily go astray, get lost in the fog and see enough of horses, owls and snails there? Only fog and fear make these simple images mysterious and frightening.

What did the Hedgehog see in the fog that would be contrary to nature and the climatic zone in which hedgehogs usually live? Elephant except. But this vision could have arisen simply due to fog and vanish with the first rays, turning into an ordinary tree.

It was precisely because of the appearance on the screen of an elephant and a horse, so different in grace and color, that many began to criticize the authors of The Hedgehog and accuse them of glorifying post-alcohol syndrome and drug glitches.

What are you?!! Which of the Hedgehogs is an alcoholic and even more so a drug addict? Sweet face and kind soul. And the horse and elephant are an occasion to reflect and prompt others to think. And one more thing - so that the fairy tale is unlike other "lived-were" …

Thanks to this extraordinary animation, the sculpture "Hedgehog in the Fog" appeared in Kyiv. A cute creature with a knot in short paws "settled" at the intersection of Zolotovorotskaya and Reytarskaya streets and immediately gained popularity among Kyivans and guests of the capital.

Photo sessions are arranged near the Hedgehog, people make wishes near him and just go to see. Despite the thorns made from self-tapping screws (5000 pieces), he does not look bristled: the same kind muzzle, the same sad eyes.

Even the sculpture-Hedgehog is always staring somewhere, probably into his personal fog, in which his personal horse wanders.

And after not one viewing of the cartoon, and after visiting the sculpture, we still cannot understand what the Hedgehog sees in the fog. Maybe a way out?
