Crossroads

Today, this wonderful picture with Leonid Yarmolnik and Anna Legchilova, who played the main roles in it, can rightly be called one of the few masterpieces of the new Russian cinematography, dating back to the early 90s. This comedy melodrama about people approaching a midlife crisis, released in December 1998, instantly received the love and recognition of millions of viewers, which has been going on for more than twenty years.

The plot of "Crossroads" is quite original. Almost forgotten by former fans of his work, Alik, the leader of a rock band that thundered all over the country half a lifetime ago, one fine day met his old friend, who offered him a tour of America. However, Alik is single, and unmarried people may have problems obtaining a visa. The musician has no choice but to urgently find a wife and solve this problem.

In a parallel storyline, the charming Lyalya, who worked as an English teacher, finally successfully passes an interview for a prestigious job. However, there is one thing - Lyalya is not married, which is not at all welcome in the company in which she was going to get a job.

By the will of fate, this pair of people who are no longer very young and tired of their own lives meet by chance. The interests of both about an urgent marriage completely coincided, but the cold calculation for the main characters of this melodrama with a good ending suddenly gave way to real feelings…

Inadequatepeople

Absolutely unfairly overlooked by viewers and critics alike, this romantic comedy was filmed back in 2010. The main roles in "Inadequate People" were played by little-known actors Ilya Lyubimov and Ingrid Olerinskaya. And this "obscurity" of theirs only benefited the film: in addition to the already existing originality, intelligence and absolute non-banality, it added an additional portion of a refreshing effect to it.

This picture is one of the most worthy domestic melodramas with a good end to the last decade. It tells the story of two insanely lonely people: thirty-year-old IT specialist Vitaly, who escaped from problems and lack of peace of mind from provincial Serpukhov to the capital, and his new neighbor Christina, a smart and beautiful young girl with an independent character. Each of them is unhappy in his own way and lives his life in an endless struggle with himself and the surrounding reality. Once having met, Vitaly and Christina first became for each other something like a tranquilizer. But soon their frozen hearts began to melt…

One of the main advantages of this film is also the witty intellectual dialogues that take place between the main characters, which can be considered a rather rare phenomenon in modern Russian cinema.

Loves does not love

This 2014 film starring Maxim Matveev and Svetlana Khodchenkova is one of the best recent domesticmelodrama with a happy ending. The picture is beautifully shot, all filled with some kind of spring light of hope, witty and entertaining. The main characters are fun to watch. Each of them is in its place and is so authentic in its image that what is happening on the screen completely captures the viewer from the very first minutes and does not let go until the very happy end.

The plot of the film is quite adventurous. The main character is about to marry Alena, the daughter of his own boss. His current and future life is clear, simple and extremely successful. It would seem that what more could you want. But at this moment, Alexey accidentally meets the famous journalist Irina. A girl who despises generally accepted norms and lives by her own laws. Real feelings hitherto unknown to him suddenly appear in Alexei's life, and he himself finds himself at a crossroads between the sincere and naive bride Alena, who loves him for who he is, and the eccentric Irina, an extraordinary and freedom-loving personality who managed to give him wings …

The choice of Alexey will be very difficult. And what exactly he turned out to be, it would be best to find out by looking at this wonderful picture.

Family Man

The review of foreign melodramas with a good ending opens with the lyrical and philosophical film of 2000 "The Family Man", starring Nicolas Cage and Téa Leoni.

Thanks to the efforts of Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey, a very simple but funny romantic and extremely positive story appeared before the audience, giving a great mood and distracting from everyday worries.

The film "The Wedding Planner" of 2001 is a light and at first glance banal comedy, but you are still unlikely to be able to tear yourself away from the events on the screen. The main character Mary works as a wedding master of ceremonies and is an excellent specialist in the science of love and marriage. However, her own personal life as such is missing. One fine day, under rather non-trivial circumstances, she runs into Steve, for whom she soon begins to feel strong sympathy. However, Steve ends up being the fiancé of one of her clients, a very rich girl. And Mary is to comedecide whether to give free rein to reason and sober calculation, or to rush headlong into the sweet pool of feelings and love.

Steve himself ends up facing the choice, having only managed to make his final decision by the time of his own wedding.

Lake House

In the 2006 science fiction film The Lake House, the acting duo of Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock brought to life a magnificent love story separated not only by distance, but also by time. Two whole years separate the main characters from each other. And their only connection is the letters they leave in a mystical mailbox located next to the lake house, in which the heroine lives in the future, and the hero lives in the past.

The plot of the film is very intricate, but the audience will definitely enjoy unraveling this tangle of relationships. In 2006, a single female doctor, Kate, moves out of a rented house on the lake, leaving a letter in the mailbox of its future tenant apologizing for dog paw prints. This letter, dated 2006, is found in his mailbox by the architect Alex, who lives in a house by the lake and does not understand what it is about. However, at that moment, the dog appears from somewhere and, getting dirty in the paint, leaves traces for which Kate apologized in her letter … Extremely surprised, Alex leaves Kate a reply message.

Taste of Life

In this romantic comedy, actors Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart told the story of how to take life as simply and tastefully as possible, without focusing on petty annoyances. That it is necessary to learn to appreciate life and enjoy every moment of it.

At the heart of the plot of the 2007 film "Taste of Life" is the relationship between professional chef Kate, who devoted herself so deeply to her work that she stopped noticing the world around her, and the new sous chef of the restaurant Nick, her self-confident and arrogant rival in the kitchen. Gradually, their war turns into a romance, but Kate has to learn how to live a normal life, which, as it turns out, still exists outside of their restaurant.

One day sheturns out to be one on one with the question raised by the US authorities about her deportation to her homeland due to a delay in obtaining a visa. Margaret is in danger of losing her job. There is only one way to get out of this situation - to quickly marry an American citizen. The first candidate for a quick husband is Andrew.

However, not everything is so simple. The immigration authorities decided to organize a check of the newly-made bride and groom, during which they would need to answer many questions about each other. Andrew, secretly in love with his boss, knows almost everything about her. But Margaret knows nothing at all about her assistant. They have only three days to prepare for the test. So that Margaret can learn more about him and his family, Andrew takes her to Alaska to her parents…

The warmth of our bodies
