Political views

Alexander Ivanovich Kolpakidi already in the late 80s of the last century not only spoke about politics, but was also a direct participant in it. Until the mid-90s, he was part of the left-wing informal movement. In addition, for some time he was at the helm of the Socialist Party of Boris Kagarlitsky and the Labor Party.

Today Alexander Kolpakidi comments on various political situations, giving them his assessment and a possible development option. He has several interviews that show his attitude to some political conflicts and the actions of politicians.

For example, about the policy of Ukraine in the last few years and its new laws, as well as nationalist changes in the country. He himself does not support such radical changes, commenting on some actions in terms of history. And the publishing house, where he is the chief editor, published several books by authors who also do not accept the situation that has developed in Ukraine.

A. Kolpakidi and editorial work

Kolpakidi began his editorial work in 1998, when he edited the Secret Dossier magazine. Subsequently, he was promoted to editor-in-chief atpublishing house "Neva", which was located in St. Petersburg.

In 2003, Kolpakidi again moved to Moscow and got a job at the Yauza publishing house, working as an editor-in-chief, and then as a deputy director. In 2012, he moved to the Algorithm publishing house as the chief editor, where he continues to work to this day.

This is the brightest place of his work. During the period that he is the editor-in-chief, the publishing house printed several scandalous books. The publication of these books led to the initiation of a criminal case under the article on hatred and enmity, or the humiliation of a person's dignity, based on his national, religious and racial characteristics.

These were books by Benito Mussolini released in 2012, as well as the novel “Michael. German fate in diary sheets”, written by Joseph Goebbels. However, despite the payment of a large fine, Alexander Ivanovich Kolpakidi believes that these works do not contain calls for violence, they are simply of historical value.

In addition, books were released that had absolutely nothing to do with the authors indicated on the cover. True, they were compiled from articles written by the authors, but not collected by them into full-fledged books. Some of these books are part of the Project Putin series. All this caused indignation and proceedings.

Kopakidi himself emphasizes that Algorithm publishing house adheres to the principles of freedom of speech. That is, it doesn’t matter at all what political views the author of the book adheres to, but if he has readers and fans of hiscreativity, the publisher may publish his work.
