Meyerhold Theater (Moscow) was founded in 1920. It existed for 18 years, and several times its name changed. The creator of the theater was Vsevolod Meyerhold. At that time he was in charge of the theatrical department of the People's Commissariat of Education. The very first name is “Theater of the RSFSR 1st”. The director's main idea was to create a spectacular, propaganda theater; he sought to establish direct contact between artists and spectators. An interesting finding in the play "Dawns" was that Red Army soldiers took part in it. And in "Mystery-Buff" the stage merged with the auditorium, in which part of the action was transferred.

The Meyerhold Theater in 1921 became the base for the Higher Director's Workshops, where two faculties were opened - acting and directing. Vsevolod Emilievich trained actors according to his own system, which included "biomechanics". Sun. Meyerhold believed that actors should not play specific characters, they should show generalizedimages, not the psychology of the individual, but the self-consciousness of the class. One of the first students of Vsevolod Emilievich was Sergei Eisenstein. In September 1921 the theater was closed, but in 1922 it reopened with the name Actor's Theatre.

In the summer of 1922 the workshops of Sun. Meyerhold merged with the State Institute of Musical Drama, as a result of which GITIS was formed. Soon the Meyerhold Theater changed its name again, as a result of another merger. Now his workshops have merged with the Experimental Heroic Theater of B. Ferdinandov, and the GITIS Theater was born. But he was not destined to live long. In 1923 it was renamed the Meyerhold Theater. But the actors and directors brought up by Vsevolod Emilievich did not stay in his theater for a long time, because he was despotic. Performances in the theater Vs. Meyerhold was controversial because they were often modernized classical plays, for which many accused him of desecrating the classics. In the 30s of the 20th century, the performances of Vsevolod Emilievich were no longer liked by the party leadership, some of them were banned even at the stage of the rehearsal process. As a result, in 1938 the Meyerhold Theater was closed. The closure was explained by the fact that it has an antisocial atmosphere and positions alien to Soviet society.

“Conditional Theater” by E. Meyerhold

Term Sun. Meyerhold "conditional theater" means a counterbalance to the realistic theater. What is the reason for this definition? The fact that the theater is conditional in itself, since everything that happens on the stage is not real events, this is a performance, and, as it were,he may not look realistic, but the artists and the audience do not believe in what is happening at 100 percent. After all, Desdemona is not actually strangled by Othello. But at the same time, the viewer empathizes with the characters. Conventionality is a hallmark of any theatre.

Sun. Meyerhold (CIM) was founded in 1991. Today it is not only a theatrical stage where various productions are shown, it is also an institution of modern theater. It is no coincidence that the theater is associated with the name of Meyerhold. Vsevolod Emilievich was a reformer and experimenter. And the Meyerhold Theater Center chose the search for new creative solutions as its main direction. All the performances that take place on the CIM stage are original, modern and interesting.

The technical equipment of this site is also striking. The hall here is a real transformer, the stage can be raised and lowered, the audience seats are disassembled.

There is no permanent troupe here, although there are quite a few premieres of their own. Basically, there are performances that are brought to Moscow from all over the world. Troupes that do not have their own venues also work here.

Among other things, the CIM building hosts the Master's program "School of the Theater Leader", where directors from Russia, the CIS and the B altic countries improve their skills.

Firstly, there are few rows in it, while there is a good rise from the front to the back, thanks to which what is happening on the stage can be seen perfectly from any place. As for the performances, most of them are rated by the audience as successful and interesting, original. The best indicator that the audience loves CIM is the fact that the hall is always full and tickets must be purchased in advance, otherwise you risk not getting to the performance.

Those who have already enjoyed the performances of the "Meyerhold House" advise all those who have never been there to visit this theater, and the guests of the city - by all means include it in their cultural program plan. The audience really likes that the hall in the theater is small - only for 50 people, and due to this, the atmosphere is warm and homely.
