Jason Lee was born in hot California in the spring of 1970. Almost nothing is known about his childhood, except that his mother, Carol, was a housewife, and his father's name was Greg Lee. The family lived in the city of Orange, where Jason was born, who received the middle name Michael. From an early age, Lee was fond of skateboarding, which eventually grew into a real passion. As a teenager, he actively participated in various board skating competitions, and at the age of 18 he achieved professional skills in this field.

His name was familiar to everyone in relevant circles due to the fact that the guy was able to do unique tricks. In parallel with participation in competitions, he, together with a friend, opensown skateboard company called the Stereo Sound Agency, one of the top players on the market today.

Beginning of acting career

As an actor, Jason Lee made his debut in the 90s of the last century. He began with filming in music videos, and in 1993 appeared in a cameo role in the film "My Crazy Life". His next film comes out 2 years later, and in it, Lee is already more significant than a supporting actor. He played in one of Kevin Smith's first comedies, Supermarket Party People, which also has the alternative title of Loafers. He perfectly embodied the image of a loser who hangs around the mall all day, plays video games and reads comics. However, you have to pay for this relationship with the girl, which he tries to renew throughout the film. Acquaintance with the director changed the life of the actor dramatically, whose career immediately took off.

Kevin Smith

After "Party People from the Supermarket", Jason Lee appears in every new picture of Kevin Smith. The director does not make films very often, but all of them are very popular among fans of independent cinema. In 1996, the image of the animator Banky Edwards, performed by Lee, was born on the screens, which became his second character, appearing in more than two full-length films. One of Smith's few dramatic films, Chasing Amy, revealed new facets of the actor's talent in 1999.

He collaborates with his favorite director againthree years later, appearing as Azrael in Dogma. Here he plays the villain, which he does just brilliantly. My name is Earl

In 2005, NBC began airing a comedy series called My Name Is Earl. Jason Lee got the main role in it. His filmography up to this point consisted of a couple of series, but participation in them went unnoticed. But immediately after the release of the story about a former criminal who found out about karma and decided to correct all his bad deeds, his popularity skyrocketed. He fell in love with the audience thanks to his charming facial expressions and chic mustache. It is noteworthy that Ethan Suplee became his partner in the series, with whom they starred together several times with Kevin Smith. Here they made a wonderful brotherly duet. The series itself was very positively received by critics and viewers, which led to its four-year existence. Unfortunately, over time, the ratings began to f alter, as a result of which the final season was released in 2009, and the storyline was never completed. But Lee received two Golden Globe nominations for his role as Earl.

Other work and future plans

In addition to the above projects, there were many others where Jason Lee took an important part. Films with him began to be actively released from the late 90s, the most famous of which include Enemy of the State and A Place in the Sun. But the real success for the actor was the beginning of the 2000s, when he plays in the melodrama "Heartbreakers". His character falls in love with the main character played by Jennifer Love Hewitt. The film itself became very popular. In 2001, the cult film "Vanilla Sky" was released, where Jason Lee played a friend of Tom Cruise's character.
