Another heroic story written by Vasily Bykov - "Obelisk". The summary will introduce the reader to this work, written in 1971, and in 1974 the author received the State Prize for this story. Moreover, a few years later, "Obelisk" was filmed. Which caused even more popularity.
The first pages of the story
The work "Obelisk" Bykov in brief begins with an acquaintance with an ordinary worker from a regional newspaper, a journalist. Having accidentally met his acquaintance on the street, he learns about the death of the teacher Miklashevich. He was barely 36 years old. He lived in the small village of Seltso. The journalist is visited by guilt. He is going to this village. Having met a passing truck, the press worker, sitting in the back, is immersed in his memories.
It turns out that Miklashevich turned to him for help at the next teachers' conference. During the Second World War, as a teenager, he was somehow connected with the partisans. And even five of his friends, with whom Miklashevich studied in the same class, were killed by German soldiers.
Wake at the teacher's house, or Who is Frost
Time passed, and the teenager who grew up was able to ensure that an obelisk was erected in honor of the fallen comrades. And now the teacher needed help with some complicated case. And he decided to ask the newsboy about her. He promised, but constantly put off the trip to the village and, in the end, was late. The image of Miklashevich constantly stands before my eyes, his thin figure with sharp shoulders and a very early withered face with a calm and clear look. This is how Bykov's short story "Obelisk" begins.
Having reached the village, the journalist saw an obelisk, which stood not far from the bus stop, and headed towards the school building, meeting a livestock specialist along the way. He said that the commemoration takes place in the teacher's house. The newspaperman was seated at the table next to the elderly veteran. A young man with the appearance of a boss began to make a speech about what a good person Miklashevich was. The veteran sitting next to the journalist suddenly interrupted him and, slamming on the table, angrily protested why no one remembers Frost.
Meet new characters
Who did the veteran and the author of Bykov mean? "Obelisk", a brief summary of which will introduce the reader to several more characters, is a really interesting work. But its main events are just beginning to unfold. The journalist learns that the departedfrom the commemoration of the veteran is the former teacher Timofey Tkachuk, who has now settled in the city.
The newspaperman hurried after him and saw how Timofey Titovich, having reached the stop, sat down not far from the monument, right in the foliage and stretched out his legs. The journalist, coming closer to the obelisk, found another additional inscription on it, made with the usual oil paint Moroz A. I.. And then Tkachuk approached him and offered to go to the city together.
On the way, a conversation began, in which Timofey Titovich begins his story about Frost. It will be introduced to the reader by further summary. "Obelisk" Bykov dedicated to the heroic deeds of the Soviet defenders of the fatherland, and, of course, we still have to learn about them.
Conversation with Timothy, or the Story of the Past
In 1939, young still then Timofey Titovich worked in the district. At the same time, Moroz opens a school for children in the Seltso estate. Together with him, a Polish woman named Podgaiska teaches. She often complained to the district about the methods that Frost uses in raising children. Timofey Tkachuk, of course, went with checks. Once he arrived, he saw in the school yard a large crowd of students who were working on a fallen old tree.
Timofey Titovich knew that firewood was very bad, and many schools complained to him about this problem. And in this one they guessed to solve it on their own. Among the children, he noticed a broad-shouldered guy who, limping heavily, went towards him. It turns out that the problem with the leg was from childhood. She did not bend and was even slightly turned inside out.side. Approaching, he introduced himself as Ales Ivanovich Moroz. Timothy really liked the guy.
A couple of years later, or Little Pasha
What events will the author of Bykov introduce further? "Obelisk", the summary of which takes us to 1941, continues to acquaint the reader with the mysterious Frost. One frosty January evening, Tkachuk drove past the school and decided to warm himself. Ales Ivanovich was not there. The boy who opened the door said that the teacher had gone to see the girls off.
A few hours later, the frozen Frost returned and explained that the mother did not let the girls go to school because of bad weather and lack of shoes. But Alesii Ivanovich bought them everything they needed. And the boy who opened the door for Timofey Titovich was none other than Pavel Miklashevich. He could not return home because his father beat him severely, and Alesius temporarily sheltered him. What further will the summary introduce the reader to? Bykov wrote "Obelisk" somewhat unusually, gradually unfolding the plot that was confusing at the very beginning. But this only increases interest in the work.
Love for children, or Pavlik's meeting with his father
Next, we study the work "Obelisk", Bykov V. and a summary will tell about another case that concerned little Miklashevich. Some time later, the local prosecutor gave the order to return the boy to his father. When Pavlik met him, he immediately again starts beating his son. At the same time, there are severalwitnesses.
Alesy Ivanovich could not stand the first one and tore the belt out of the hands of the negligent father. They were separated in time, otherwise there would have been a fight. Frost does not rest on this. He ensured that through the court the man was deprived of the right to raise little Miklashevich. The judicial authorities decided to send the child to an orphanage. But Alexy Ivanovich is in no hurry to comply with the decision. Subsequent events changed absolutely everything. What kind of events, of course, will tell a summary. "Obelisk" Bykov V. V. now begins the story of the tragic days of the Great Patriotic War.
The Germans in the village, or Nobody expected war
Nazi troops were advancing, but there were still no Soviet troops. In a few days the Nazis came to the village. Timofey Titovich and other residents, naturally, hoped that they would soon be expelled. But there were many traitors among the local population. Some teachers joined the detachment of the Cossack Seleznev. Among them was Tkachuk. A little later, the former prosecutor Sivak joined their ranks.
The detachment settled down in the forest, dug trenches and prepared for the winter. At the next meeting, we decided to go to the villages, reconnoiter the situation and meet with reliable people. Timofey Tkachuk, together with the former prosecutor, went to Seltso. There they learned that many went over to the side of the Nazis, someone became a policeman. It was one of Sivak's acquaintances by the name of Lavchenya. In the work "Obelisk" Bykov V. again shows the reader that there is always a place among people not only for heroicdeeds, but there remains a particle for meanness, betrayal and cowardice.
The school continues to work
What else amazed Timofey Titovich was that the school where Alesy Ivanovich worked continued to function. And the Germans allowed it. Only she was now in an ordinary house. And in the building of the school there was a police station. He did not expect such betrayal from the teacher. But the prosecutor was not slow to remind that even earlier he wanted to repress Alesia.
But when Frost met Timofey at night, he explained to him that he was disguising himself only to protect his guys. The friends agreed that the teacher would transmit information to the detachment about what was happening in the village, listen to reports on the radio and distribute them among the local population. Another courageous act that Bykov describes. "Obelisk", a summary of which tells the reader about the fate of Alesius, describes in more detail all the events associated with this simple teacher.
Down with the policeman, or Childish courage
Lavchenya, who became a policeman, began to behave just like the Germans. Robbed people, killed and even mocked. One of the students of Alesii Ivanovich, whose name was Nikolai Borodich, planned to kill him, but the teacher forbade it. Pasha Miklashevich was then 15 years old, and Nikolai 19. Together with their friends, they came up with a plan to get rid of the policeman. The children decided to saw down the supports at the bridge, along which the traitor was supposed to pass by car.
But, unfortunately, the policeman was not injured, and one of hissatellites even noticed the guys lurking not far away. The boys were captured by the Germans. This is how Vasily Bykov describes childhood courage in his work. "Obelisk", a summary of which will be further devoted to Frost, trying to save the guys, a book where the reader is told in more detail about the act of Pavlik and Nikolai Borodich.
Alesy Ivanovich in the partisan detachment
Frost went to the detachment to ask for help from his comrades. But he soon learns that the Germans are looking for him, and if he does not return, they will shoot the boys. Alesiy decides to return to the village. Tkachuk persuaded him to stay, as he believed that the Nazis would be deceived anyway. But Frost stood his ground. Of course, it turned out just as Timofei Titovich expected.
The Germans seized Alesii Ivanovich, but the children were not released. In the evening they were all taken outside with the teacher. At that moment, Moroz made an attempt to save Pavlik Miklashevich, and he succeeded. How did "Vasily Bykov" describe this incident? "Obelisk", a brief summary of which only superficially describes all the events, a work, which, of course, tells in more detail about all the bullying of the Nazis and their cruelty.
About the persistence of the characters of the main characters. Even about childish courage. And although this is not the most concise content, Bykov's "Obelisk", "Survive Until Dawn" and other works deserve closer study. Here, many details and fragments of the narrative are omitted, and those where the mostthe personal qualities of people are clearly expressed.
Summary. "Obelisk", Bykov V., or Final Events
Pavlik, beaten and wounded in the chest by the Nazis, was picked up by partisans. Frost and the rest of the boys were first tortured for several days, brutally mocked, and then hanged. Pavel Miklashevich was treated for a long time after the war, he developed tuberculosis, and a wound in the chest affected. Finally, my heart gave out and stopped. Thus ends the summary.
"Obelisk" Bykov V. ends with a dispute that arose between the veteran and the driver of the car who gave him and the newsboy a lift. The driver believed that Frost could not be considered a hero. He did not save the children, and he had no other merits. The veteran stood his ground. Alesii Ivanovich accomplished a feat! And what did V. Bykov think?
"Obelisk", a collection of summaries of works dedicated to the Patriotic War and many other stories about the tragic events of that time, contains many controversial issues about the heroic deeds of people. Readers can only get acquainted with their content and draw their own conclusions.
