Aleksey Nikolaevich Gribov (1902-1977) - a popular theater and film actor of the Soviet era, in 1948 he was awarded the honorary title "People's Artist of the USSR".

Aleksey Gribov: biography, actor's childhood

Alyosha Gribov was born on January 31, 1902 in Moscow's Sokolniki, not far from one of the freight stations of the Moscow-Kazan Railway. His father had a prestigious driver profession for that time, and his mother was a tobacco factory worker. The boy's childhood ended early, as his mother died of tuberculosis when he was only 3 years old, and his younger sister was even younger by that time. After some time, the father remarried.

With the appearance of a stepmother in the house, the family gradually began to grow, and in addition to Alyosha and his sister, four more children appeared in the family. The family lived modestly, and they often had to change their place of residence. I must say that the boy's father had a rather high driving qualification, which once even allowed him to take part in the famous Moscow-Paris motor rally (1913). Alyosha often helped his father take care of the car of his father's employer, completely wash the car and clean it of clogged dirt, for which the boy always received a rewardcoin.

Youth of Alexei

Alyosha had the greatest mutual understanding with his grandfather, Gribov Mikhail Efimovich, who, after the abolition of serfdom, moved from the village to Moscow. Grandfather worked as a railway engineer. To his credit, he mastered the complex technique on his own and then devoted almost 40 years to driving steam locomotives. After the death of Mikhail Efimovich, Alexei got the grandfather's icon of Nikolai Ugodnik. For the rest of his life, Gribov did not part with her and even secretly took her on tour with him.

The first real performance that Gribov had a chance to see was called "Children of Vanyushin". The boy was impressed by the performance, after which Alyosha and his sister's children's games included staging their own performances, invented on the go. In 1916, Alexei's father was called to the front. The 14-year-old teenager who remained behind the eldest man in the family had to get a job at a silk-weaving factory. I had to work physically hard, 12 hours a day, giving all the best to the issuance of raw materials.

Alexey did not quit his job, even when his father returned from the front. On top of that, he also entered the school for working youth at the club on Ordynka. During this period of adolescence, one of his teachers, V. V., played a huge role in the life of a young man. Baranovsky, thanks to which Alexei just fell ill with the theater. The teacher worked with him individually, often at his home, he prepared the young man for entering the university. In addition, he helped the guychange from a factory job to a theater position. After graduating from the 3rd studio of the Moscow Art Theater in 1924, Alexei Gribov, whose biography has now continued on the theater stage, joined the Moscow Art Theater troupe.

The play "The Battle of Life" became very significant for Alexei, he played Mr. Cregg in it - his first serious role. Since 1935, the young man began acting in films. Not being handsome according to external data, Alexei Gribov did not play the role of heroes-lovers. But on the other hand, being dense, stocky and broad-faced, he significantly succeeded in the image of a man from the people. Alexei devoted himself to the stage with such diligence that even in the smallest role it was impossible not to notice him. The audience fell in love with the artist, the reviewers praised his game.

In addition to small roles, like Epikhodov from "The Cherry Orchard", Sobakevich from "Dead Souls", Chebutykin from "Three Sisters", Shmagi from "Guilty Without Guilt" and Osip from "Inspector General", Alexei Gribov played superbly and such strong personalities who decide other people's destinies, like Malyuta Skuratova and Foma Opiskin. In addition, at the age of 40, Alexey became the first actor who embodied the image of V. I. Lenin on the Moscow Art Theater stage.

Outstanding craftsmanship

Talented stage expressiveness is clearly seen in every role played by Alexei Gribov. The films "Earth", "Golden Carriage", "Enemies", "Russian People" have become highly indicative for the acting of an actor who is greatmanaged to create deep folk images. How subtly he could present what often goes unnoticed in life - humor, honesty and spiritual wisdom of a simple Russian person! In his plans, Alexei wanted to move further, such roles as the old man Karamazov, King Lear and Aesop firmly settled in his dreams, which, unfortunately, remained an unsung song for the actor.

Well, the personal life of Alexei Gribov has developed somehow surprisingly and unusually. Once on the street, he accidentally met the wife of his former teacher Baranovsky. The tearful and confused woman said that her husband had died, and she herself did not know where to go and what to do. Alexey registered a marriage with Elena Vladimirovna, and they began to live together in his 2 rooms of a communal apartment. Whether such an act was dictated by gratitude to the teacher or whether Alexei really was imbued with sympathy for a woman much older than himself in age, no one will know, most likely, of course, both were present. But all their lives they lived together, he completely took care of the woman.

Nevertheless, Alexei also had novels on the side, to which Elena Vladimirovna, given their difference in age, was sympathetic. From a short relationship with the director's assistant Isolda, Gribov had a son, who was also named Alyosha. Isolde did everything she could to take her beloved away from the family, but the actor, who promised to take care of the teacher's wife until the end of his life, continued to live with her. But he also loved his son, and, as a responsible person, he took care of him as best he could. Heading the cooperativecommunity, Alexey made sure that Isolde and the child received an apartment.

An unexpected sunset

As an actor, Alexei Gribov was in great demand, his repertoire was full, and with a norm of 11 performances a month, he had more than 20 each time. Maybe this affected his he alth. Always taut, vigorous and never ill, Alexei suffered a stroke in an instant during the performance, having played, nevertheless, this play, which became final, to the end.

The actor lived for several more years after that, practically learning to talk and walk all over again. In 1977 he was gone. Alexei Gribov was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery. He has the title of Hero of Socialist Labor and many Stalin Prizes for his masterful performance of roles in the films "Officers of the Navy", "The Fruits of Enlightenment", "Kremlin Chimes", "Solo for Chilling Clock" and "Brave People".
