Nick Mason, longtime drummer for the great rock band Pink Floyd, spoke about his musical career in his biographical book Inside Out. A Personal History of Pink Floyd (2004).
The beginning of friendly and creative relations between aspiring rock musicians was laid in the spring of 1963, when Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason studied at the Royal Polytechnic Institute, Regent Street in London (now the University of Westminster). They entered the Faculty of Architecture in September 1962.
But the success that their passion for music brought overshadowed everything: none of them had to graduate from this wonderful educational institution. Nick Mason's academic leave turned out to be indefinite. After the summer holidays of 1966, a rock band called The Pink Floyd Sound (then with Syd Barrett and later with David Gilmour) began their brilliant ascent.

Private life
Nick Mason was born on January 27, 1944 in Birmingham. I became interested in rock music at the age of 12.
Among his own accomplishments, Mason highlights getting his driver's license in 1961 at age 17. Nick carried his love for cars and racing throughout his life: he acted as a race car driver and wrote a book about cars from his collection of sports and racing cars.
Mason's parents supported his passion for both cars and music. His father, Bill Mason, was a documentary filmmaker (Shell film crew). Parents not only attended the very first concerts of the group, but were able to provide financial support when the equipment of young musicians was stolen.
In 1969, Nick married Lindy Rutter, in 1971 they had a daughter, Chloe. in 1975 - daughter Holly. Annette Linton is the second wife of Nick Mason. Their sons are Guy (1990) and Kerry (1991).
