"Forty prospectors" - a story or a story?

The main characters of thesebooks - a Moscow doctor and young pioneer schoolchildren.
It's hard to say what genre the book "Forty Prospectors" belongs to, a story or a story. A Moscow doctor and his daughter Sonya go on vacation to Zolotoy Bor, not far from the city of Lyubets, where they find themselves in an amazing cycle of events. Thus begins the first exploration, the search for a lost painting by an unknown artist.
Meet the pioneers
Walking with his daughter by the river, the doctor meets the pioneers, from them he learns that they are going on a trip to the city of Lyubets to visit the local history museum. Without hesitation, the doctor goes on a campaign with the pioneers. The author describes this moment in a very interesting and colorful way. It contains the romance of camp life, and gatherings by the fire, and spending the night in the forest. The city itself, the ancient Kremlin, is described very entertainingly.
After visiting the local history museum, the pioneers and the doctor face another mystery. The museum has a still life with a dead firebird, under it is the same caption as on the missing painting "I can't even sign."
Research

BIn the park, they meet a girl, the author gave her an amazing nickname - Martian - because of the huge green glasses that hid half of her face. The girl had a dagger depicted in the picture, as it turned out, this dagger had previously been in the estate of the landowner Zagvoudetsky. Based on the foregoing, the pioneers concluded that the artist who painted the portrait could be one of the serfs of the landowner.

How the amazing adventure of the Moscow doctor ended
"Forty Prospectors" - a story or a story, or maybe a fairy tale, the denouement of the book turned out to be so incredible. The most surprising thing was that the picture was found in the house where the doctor rented a room during his vacation. And an incredible set of circumstances helped in this. The owner of the house tried all his life to breed a variety of blue dahlias, and finally he succeeded. He really wanted as many people as possible to know about his discovery, but flowers alone are not enough for glory. And then the owner showed everyone the picture and the will of his grandfather, which said that the picture should not be shown to anyone.
The reasons for such a strange testament were also revealed, the artist who painted the picture was a serf of the landowner Zagvoudetsky, in love with his daughter. It was her that he depicted in the picture. the samethe artist was exiled to the Caucasus, where he later died.
As you can see, this work has a special, unique genre. "Forty Prospectors" - a story or story, rather a story. The author tells us about the adventures of young guys, and with them the Moscow doctor, who was also imbued with the spirit of exploration. The plot is clearly visible in the work. There is a main character and events that take place directly with his participation. Only one storyline is developed, there is no clear demarcation between chapters.
