The book "Elven Blade" was published in 1993 and quickly brought fame to the author. This is a unique work of its kind, which is not just written based on the book "The Lord of the Rings" by JRR Tolkien, but continues the events described in it. In fact, a whole trilogy has been created, with the Elven Blade being the first book.
Author: Nick Perumov
Nik Perumov is the pseudonym of the Russian writer Nikita Danilovich Perumov. Even in his school years, he began to write a lot, but at first he did not imagine that he would connect his life with literature. Only in adulthood was the first book of the author published - "The Elven Blade". After the success that followed the publication, Nick Perumov plunged headlong into the fantasy world and even created his own universe. Since then, the author has published many books, among which you can find both traditional fantasy and stories based on the technical future and the historical past.
During his literary career, Nick Perumov wrotethere are over 48 books already, and many more are still in the process of being written. The author's talent really amazes hearts and minds, because he received many awards, as well as recognition abroad. His books are actively translated into other languages. Perhaps that is why a few years ago the author moved to live in the United States. However, he often visits Russia and holds evenings and meetings dedicated to his works.
Book contents
The main feature of the book "The Elven Blade" is that the author did not create his own world for the heroes from scratch, he continued the work of the world-famous JRR Tolkien. The characters of Nick Perumov live in the Mediterranean saved by Frodo Baggins, walk along its paths and live its life, because the main character is also a hobbit.
However, Falco Brandybuck, around whom the story is built, in the course of his wanderings around the world finds out that even after the destruction of the Ring, there are many evil and creatures in the world who want to destroy not only the little hobbit, but also the primacy of the elves. To carry out their cunning plans, they need some kind of elven blade. The author masterfully comes up with an exciting plot that easily takes the reader out of reality. A real chase unfolds behind the blade, because both the forces of evil and those who hope to save the magical world want to master it. But what these events will turn into, you can read in the next books in the series - "Black Spear" and "Henna's Adamant".
Book reviews
It so happened that usually sequels and fan art are notcause special delight, but this clearly cannot be said about the book "Elvenblade". From the very appearance of the work, fans of both J. R. R. Tolkien and Nick Perumov himself have been enthusiastically reading it.
So it's no surprise that you'll find mostly positive reviews online. Everyone appreciates the skill of the author and also an interesting plot. Nevertheless, some readers were confused by such a continuation of the great saga, because they saw life after the destruction of the Ring of Omnipotence in a different light. This dispute between those who liked the novel "Elven Blade" and its opponents began with the publication of the book, and it has not subsided to this day.
