Today fantasy is a very popular genre of literature, cinema and computer games. Everyone likes it for their own reasons. A series of books (as well as a series based on them) "Game of Thrones" can be safely attributed to the outstanding examples of this genre. This is a harsh and cruel, but at the same time kind and hopeful work that, in its sophistication, can compete with such titans of the genre as "The Lord of the Rings" or "Forgotten Realms". This article will talk about one of the key characters in the universe, even if she does not appear in the books and the series, and one can form an opinion about her only from the memories of other heroes. This is Lyana Stark, the girl who decided the fate of the Seven Kingdoms without meaning to.
Backstory
Game of Thrones takes place in the fictional world of Westeros. The largest state on its territory is the so-called Seven Kingdoms. The circumstances are such that there are large families, or Houses, among the ruling elite. They interact, weave intrigues against each other in their attempts to take the Iron Throne and royal power along with it. Each House has its own coat of arms, motto, personal qualities. There are seven main Houses in Westeros - House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, House Baratheon, House Tyrell, House Greyjoy and House Martell. During the life of Lyana Stark, House Targaryen had ruled the Seven Kingdoms for many years. Aerys the Mad was king, and Crown Prince Rhaegar was his heir.
The life and fate of Lyana Stark
Liana was the daughter of the head of the Stark house, Ricard. She had three brothers - Brandon, Benjen and Eddard (the latter is one of the key characters in the books and the series). Even in early childhood, she possessed incredible beauty. Her other qualities include sensitivity, the concept of honor and justice, determination, courage and compassion. Liana's father, having such an enviable bride, decided to give her in marriage to Robert Baratheon (who was a close friend of Eddard). Until that time, the girl grew up in the Stark family castle - Winterfell.
At the age of sixteen, her father took her and his other children to the royal tournament at Harrenhal. Among the many fighters who fought there was Prince Rhaegar. When he won, he declared Liana his queen of love and beauty in front of everyone (despite the fact that he was already engaged to Princess Elia Martell).
After the tournament ended, Liana mysteriously disappeared. Subsequently, it was said that the prince kidnapped her and took her to the Tower of Joy - a small castle on the border of the Seven Kingdoms with another state, Dorn. However, there are versions that say that Liana left with him.voluntarily, since her betrothed Robert had a tough temper and was greedy for women.
The beginning of the civil war
Having learned about such an act of the prince, Robert was furious. He soon started an uprising that escalated into a civil war. At first, it was unstable, but when several houses joined the rebels, dissatisfied with the power of the Targaryens, they became a serious threat to the throne. The decisive battle took place at the Ruby Ford. In this battle, the king's army was defeated, and his commander, Prince Rhaegar, who hastily left for the capital, having learned about the beginning of the uprising, died.
Liana spent all this time in the tower. When Eddard (and he also joined the rebels) with his faithful people came to the Tower of Joy, he found his sister dying in a bloodied bed. Before she died, she took a vow from him. Which one exactly remains unknown. Subsequently, several theories arose among the fans of the series about this.
Liana Stark was buried in the ancestral crypt of Winterfell.

Subsequently, Robert's troops laid siege to King's Landing, the capital. King Aerys was killed by his own guards. Robert became the new king and married Cersei Lannister. Fans of the universe have created a theory that Eddard's illegitimate son, Jon Snow, is the son of Lyana and Rhaegar. AllegedlyLiana asked her brother to take her son to be raised, while keeping silent about his origin. Eddard, even to his questions about his mother, did not answer anything intelligible. So this theory may very well be true.
Since the creators of the series do not provide any images that could convey what Liana Stark looked like (photos of the actress are also missing), everyone presents her differently. It is possible that John looks exactly like her, since he has no signs of a Targaryen (character, blond hair).
Results
Among all the heroines of "Game of Thrones" there is no other who suffered as much as Liana Stark. "Game of Thrones" is rich in realistic displays of life's realities. And since there are many mysteries in real life, then in the book the riddle of Liana will not be solved soon.
There is no other character in the series who would have such an impact on the course of events as Lyana Stark (Game of Thrones). The actor for the main male role, and the performers of other roles, are acting characters. But about Liana, the viewer will not be able to make a visual impression. The only thing that reminds of the heroine in the series is the statue in the crypt of Winterfell and the memories of the heroes.
