The poet and musician was born in the city of Yekaterinburg (Sverdlovsk) on June 7, 1938 in the family of an opera singer-tenor and a ballerina. Father (Alexander Viktorovich Dolsky) was a soloist of the Sverdlovsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, mother is a graduate of the Vaganova Leningrad School of Choreography.

Sasha's musical talent manifested itself in early childhood, he easily memorized melodies, then interpreted the compositions in his own way. At the age of ten, he entered the stage, began to perform as part of a theater choir of boys. Participated in the musical accompaniment of the opera performances "Carmen" and "The Queen of Spades".

In my school years I learned to play many instruments, but preferred the guitar. In 1949, young Alexander Dolsky wrote his first song. At that time, music was his hobby, and the future poet began his career in the repair shop of the Uralelectroapparat plant, where he worked as a toolmaker for two years (1956 -1958).

Then, twenty-year-old Alexander Dolsky entered the Sverdlovsk Polytechnic Institute at the Faculty of Civil Engineering. At the end of the course, he became a graduate student of the engineering and economic department.

Music education

Alexander Dolsky preferred not to engage in scientific activity, he began to take guitar lessons from L. Voinov, a string instrument teacher. The training was difficult, the teacher turned out to be over-demanding and uncompromising. Dolsky mastered the technique of the game eight hours a day.

In 1952, Alexander Dolsky won the first post-war rally of pop artists, where he took second place in the guitar competition.

Starting from 1966, Dolsky participated in several festivals of author's song. Then the poet decided to devote himself entirely to art and compiled a program of solo concert activity. In the seventies, the songs of Alexander Dolsky began to gain popularity.

In 1970, the bard moved to Leningrad and got a job at the town planning research institute, as a singer and songwriter went on short tours and met with his listeners. In 1979, Dolsky finally made a choice in favor of the song and music genre. In the same year, he was invited to work in his "Miniature Theater" by Arkady Raikin.

Recognition and popularity

In 1980, two important events took place in the life of Alexander Dolsky: he was accepted as a member of the Union of Writers, the first disc called"Star in the palm of your hand" A few years later, the bard begins to travel with concerts in Western Europe and the USA.

The success of the artist of the author's song is unprecedented, the records are sold out in millions of copies, concerts gather thousands of people. Currently, about twenty albums with Dolsky's songs have been released.

The musician also wrote a cycle of songs for Russian cinema. Among these works are soundtracks for the films "Tavern on Pyatnitskaya", "Elder Son", "New Scheherazade", "When the Saints March". In addition to songs, several poetry collections have been released: "Four Angels", "Stone Songs", "Blessing", "Blue Self-Portrait", "While You Live".

Dolsky is a laureate of the Okudzhava State Literary Prize. Currently, he is an active member of the Writers' Union of Russia, is a member of the editorial board of the Metropol almanac.

Private life

Dolsky Alexander is married. His wife's name is Dolskaya Nadezhda Aleksandrovna. There are three adult sons: Peter, Alexander and Pavel. The family currently lives in St. Petersburg.

The poet is fond of painting. From time to time, exhibitions are held in the city, which showcase art paintings written by him. The paintings look like they were made by a professional artist.
