From 2000 to 2005 he was the chief director in the youth theater of the city of Kazan. Then he returned to the Omsk Drama Theater again. Since 2009, he has been the chief director here. The first performance that he staged after taking this post was Three Girls in Blue. Productions by Georgy Zurabovich constantly take part in prestigious festivals and competitions not only in Russia, but also internationally. In 2003, G. Tskhvirava was nominated for the Golden Mask.
Laboratory
The Omsk State Academic Drama Theater organized a modern drama laboratory at its base. Here creative experiments and searches are carried out. The spectator in the performances is interested not only in eternal values, he wants to see on stage the problems of the modern world. Atthe choice of a play must be guided by what the modern public wants. At the same time, the process of creating performances should be creativity, and not stamping out something that will surely bring profit, but will not allow the theater to develop.
The laboratory allows you to test your abilities, set yourself difficult tasks and solve them. Directors, playwrights and actors gather here. Together they try to find the best way to bring the idea to life on stage. When a playwright writes a play, he acts it out in his mind. The director, after reading it, develops the idea of incarnation. The actors give the characters flesh and voice. But not everything that the playwright wrote can be shown on stage the way he intended. The director may have a point of view on the realization of the play opposite to that of the author. The director takes part of the plot into the performance and gets rid of the text, which he considers unacceptable for the stage. When creating characters, actors can endow characters with character traits that are not in the play.
The performance is the result of the efforts of everyone, which means that it is necessary to work on it in a coordinated manner. You can see the advantages and disadvantages of the production only on the stage. For these reasons, theaters rarely decide on new plays, preferring the classics. The laboratory functions as an experimental stage. Here playwrights, actors and directors bring together all the components of the future performance. Create sketches. Then analyze and correct errors. Thanks to the work of the laboratory, 5 plays by modern unknown authors were staged.
