The Moscow Academic Satire Theater opened in 1924. His repertoire includes comedies, as the name suggests. For the last 16 years, the post of artistic director of the theater has been occupied by Alexander Anatolyevich Shirvindt.
History of the theater
The Moscow Academic Theater of Satire, the photo of the building of which is presented in this article, opened its doors, as mentioned above, in 1924. Its first premises were the basement of a house in Bolshoy Gnezdnikovsky Lane, where the cabaret "The Bat" had previously lived.
The very first head of the theater was David Gutman. The troupe was immediately accepted by the audience. The repertoire included plays, parodies and satirical reviews, which is called the topic of the day. This was not seen in other theatres. Reviews consisted of interludes, dances, verses.
GBUK of Moscow (Moscow Academic Theater of Satire) soon received a new building, which was located on Sadovo-Triumfalnaya Street. Comedies and vaudevilles were added to the repertoire, plays in which irony was predominant.
Valentin Nikolaevich Pluchek in1950 came to the theater of satire. With him, a new era began. The repertoire became wider, his productions excited the capital, they were among the most notable, successful and bright. Despite the fact that the performances of the theater aroused the admiration of the public, many of them were banned from showing and removed from the repertoire. The productions of V. Pluchek and the young M. Zakharov, who began his directing career in the theater of satire, were banned.
B. Pluchek is also famous for the fact that he gathered a magnificent troupe, thanks to him they came here: Olga Aroseva, Tatyana Peltzer, Andrey Mironov, Z. Vysokovskiy, Raisa Etush, Anatoly Papanov, Vera Vasilyeva, Alexander Shirvindt, Georgy Menglet, Mikhail Derzhavin, Zoya Zelinskaya, Nina Kornienko and many others.
The Moscow Academic Theater of Satire in 1964 moved to the building on Mayakovskaya Shchad, where the circus had previously been located. And then in the 70s. moved to the premises on Triumfalnaya Square.
The year 1987 was tragic for the theatre. Two legendary artists have passed away: Andrey Mironov and Anatoly Papanov. In this regard, thirteen productions in which they played leading roles were removed from the theater's repertoire. But this did not affect the love of the public. During the difficult years of perestroika, the theater reduced the cost of tickets to enable people to continue attending performances during the crisis period for the country.
Alexander Anatolyevich Shirvindt (artistic director of the theater) strives to preserve the traditions laid down by V. Pluchek.
