Laura Innes: biography
The actress was born in Pontiac, Michigan, in 1957, on August 16, in the family of Robert and Laurette Innes. She was the last, youngest child of six siblings.
Since childhood, the girl dreamed of becoming an actress. One day, my father gathered his entire large family and brought them to the Shakespeare Festival in the Canadian city of Stratford. For little Laura this tripwas a real shock, because she had never seen so many real actors in her life.
When the girl graduated from high school, she applied to the University of Illinois. During her studies, she became a full member of the Alpha Omega sorority. After graduating, Laura Innes received a bachelor's degree in theater arts.
Career start
As an actress, Innes made her debut at the popular Goodman Theatre, which opened her way to the theater stage. Laura played in several performances, including in the famous production of "A Streetcar Named Desire", where the role of Mitch was played by John Malkovich.
Then, the actress played the role of Jerry Stiller's daughter in a small teleplay "Stiller and Mira show". The project as a whole did not work out and was closed a few weeks later.
Main Role
In 1994, Laura Innes began acting in the famous "ER". Her character, Dr. Weaver Carrey, entered the scene in the second season, and already in the third, she was on the list of main characters. During a break in the filming of ER, Laura Innes, whose films were few at that time, decided to star in another film directed by Mimi Leder, who she knew well from ER. This film was called "Abyssal Impact" and belonged to the adventure genre film projects.
Hollywood stars of the first magnitude, such as Vanessa Redgrave, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, were invited for filming. The project was successful, and soon the film was released on the big screen.
Private life
Laura met David Brisbin, her future husband (performing the role of pediatric anesthesiologist Alex Babcock), in 1989. In 1990, the couple had an heir, who was named Cal. In the spring of 2002, the couple adopted a one-year-old girl from China named Mia.
At present, the creative and tireless Laura Innes is engaged in her main activity and at the same time devotes a lot of time to social work.
The actress tries to spend all her free time with her family in nature, making small trips by car. Laura has a constant circle of close friends, some of whom worked with her on the set, such as Maura Tierney, her close friend and co-star on the series ER. The actress values her friends very much.
