The actress was born in Pontiac, Michigan, in 1957, on August 16, in the family of Robert and Laurette Innes. She was the last, youngest child of six siblings.

Since childhood, the girl dreamed of becoming an actress. One day, my father gathered his entire large family and brought them to the Shakespeare Festival in the Canadian city of Stratford. For little Laura this tripwas a real shock, because she had never seen so many real actors in her life.

When the girl graduated from high school, she applied to the University of Illinois. During her studies, she became a full member of the Alpha Omega sorority. After graduating, Laura Innes received a bachelor's degree in theater arts.
