There are artists whose paintings seem to be pierced through with air and light. Such is Sisley Alfred. When you look at his paintings, you want to find yourself in that sunny and beautiful world that this painter saw and, with the power of his artistic talent, managed to convey this vision on canvas. One of the fathers of impressionism - Camille Pissarro - once noticed that Sisley writes in a new way every time. From the lips of a venerable artist, such words sounded like the highest praise, because it was this quality that he considered fundamental in impressionist painting. Nevertheless, during his lifetime, this talented artist was never able to achieve recognition from critics and the public and died in complete obscurity and poverty.

Alfred Sisley - biography, the beginning of a creative path

The future artist was born in Paris on October 30, 1839. Happy parents named the newborn Alfred. It was a we althy family, the child's father successfully traded in silk and was able to give his sonthe best upbringing and education. Of course, the elder Sisley dreamed that his son would follow in his footsteps, and therefore, when Alfred was 18 years old, he was sent to England to comprehend the commercial business. But it was not commerce that attracted the young man, but painting. In England, he became interested in the landscapes of Turner and the painting of Constable and Bonnington.

After returning home, Sisley Alfred goes to study at the art workshop of Gleyre. There he met Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet and Frederic Basil. All four are looking for new ways in art, so Gleyre's academic background quickly disappoints them. Sisley and his friends leave for the picturesque town of Chailly near Fontainebleau. It is there that his creative path begins. The artist has forever given his heart to cute provincial landscapes.

Later life in art

In 1866 Sisley Alfred worked a lot in the open air in Marlotte with Renoir. In 1866 he paints landscapes in Honfleur. Then the artist is attracted by Argenteuil and, of course, Port Marly, which he especially liked.

In parallel with the work, Sisley begins to take part in exhibitions. For the first time, critics drew attention to him in 1874. I must say that this artist did not feel a great need for fame. He had a reserved and shy disposition, he did not strive for leadership. Perhaps it was these qualities that prevented him from achieving the success that accompanied his comrades - Monet, Renoir and Pizarro.

He practically does not communicate with fellow artists. But difficult life circumstances do not affect his painting. Sisley's landscapes are still permeated with light and joy.

In 1897, Sisley arranges a solo exhibition. But criticism reacted to her with absolute indifference, which was a big blow for the artist. In 1899, at the age of 60, Sisley died without waiting for recognition.
