Birth of a winner

Actor and director Alexander Aleksandrovich Kalyagin was born at the end of May 1942 in the village of Malmyzh, on the Vyatka River. His mother, Yulia Mironovna Zaideman, was already forty years old. The village doctor gave advice: “Give birth!”

The father chose the name for his son - Alexander Georgievich Kalyagin, who was sure that the name Alexander (winner) would always help the boy out in life. Unfortunately, he passed away whenthe baby was not yet a month old, on June 17th. Yulia Mironovna did not marry again, she raised her son on her own.

Little Shurik spent his childhood in the capital, in Moscow. It was there that his mother's relatives lived. Subsequently, he recalled that they were intelligent people, mostly women. And so he grew up in the "woman's kingdom" as a quiet, modest good boy.

But at the same time, even a small Alexander Kalyagin could not stand even the slightest violence against himself. When the mother decided to teach the boy to play the violin (he had absolute pitch), it did not last long: he just sat on the violin, crushing it. Alexander Alexandrovich said that he couldn’t stand uncontested situations in his life, he was hurt when there was no choice.

First big decision

When Sasha was five years old, he decided that he would be an artist. Since he grew up among many female relatives and was surrounded by tenderness and love, he immediately sat on his head and showed his character. Shurik realized early enough that his native element was antics. All relatives admired his performances. As a child, Sasha was sure that the work of an actor is very easy bread. Yulia Mironovna took her boy's theatrical studies very seriously.

While studying at school, Alexander began to read poetry at the Palace of Pioneers. When he grew up a little, he spoke already reading serious literature.

Learn, learn, learn…

Yes, Sasha really wanted to play on stage. But having gathered home advice, his mother and numerous aunts made an important decision: the boy needs to getordinary profession. Alexander Kalyagin agreed, and began studying at the medical school. After graduating in 1959, he worked as an ambulance paramedic. Thanks to this profession, he came face to face with real real life, with human tragedies and dramas. Alexander saw heart attacks and crippled in violent fights, drunkards and suicides. Later, this experience proved invaluable while working on the roles. After working in an ambulance for two years, he wanted to realize the dream he had as a child.

From the first time, Sasha went to "Pike", asking only for a certificate that his ligaments were in perfect order. This was due to the fact that his voice was sandy, unusual. Such shades in the voice appeared after imitation of Arkady Raikin, who was Kalyagin's idol.

Hero Lover or Young Pioneer?

Going to the second year, he was expelled from the school for unsuitability. The teachers could not come to a common opinion in any way: what role would the future actor have. He cannot play pioneers, heroes are also not his path, but old people, and so on without counting. Alexander was already not very thin and starting to go bald.

His savior turned out to be Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. Many years later, theater critics exclaimed with admiration: Kalyagin Alexander Alexandrovich seemed to have come into this world to try on Chekhov's characters! The winning card for him was freshman Lyuba Koreneva, whom he alwaysremembers with gratitude. For four hands, they put on a small piece of the performance by Antosha Chekhonta, which the rector Boris Zakhava recognized as the best in the whole course. Soon Sasha became the practical best student.

The bright feeling of a smiling person

At the same time, Kalyagin Alexander Alexandrovich made acquaintance with his first love. She turned out to be Tatyana Korunova - a real fairy-tale beauty and talented actress. The girl came from Sverdlovsk, where she studied at a local university in physics until the third year. During the entrance exams, Tatyana simply conquered Boris Zakhava and was accepted without wasting time on the qualifying rounds.

The novel, which was born suddenly, was hidden from everyone. Alexander and Tatyana carefully hid their feelings. The marriage took place already in the second year and was secret, the young people simply signed at the registry office.

Family life was calm and happy. Alexander Kalyagin was the indisputable head of the family: his wife was sure that he was much more talented, and tried to adapt to his work schedule, took care of the house with might and main.

They graduated from school together in 1965 and entered the Taganka Theater together. It was there that Alexander Kalyagin was entrusted to play the role of Galileo in a play based on Bertolt Brecht.

One not very good day, he had a serious quarrel with director Yuri Lyubimov, after which Alexander decided to leave the theater. It is precisely this, explosive, that Kalyagin Alexander Alexandrovich is, whose personal life is a tanglecontradictions. Lyubimov assures the actor that immediately after his departure, his wife will be fired. When Tatyana heard this phrase, she herself wrote a statement that she was leaving the theater. From that moment on, her whole life was devoted exclusively to her family. Tatyana and Alexander had a daughter, Ksyusha.

All life is theater…

In 1967, Kalyagin crossed the threshold of the Yermolova Theatre. Over the course of three years, a lot of interesting roles passed through his hands: Poprishin in N. V. Gogol's Notes of a Madman and Jim in T. Williams' Glass Menagerie.

In 1970, the actor moved to Sovremennik, and a year later - to the Moscow Art Theater. It is here that he will serve for over a quarter of a century, becoming related to these walls, colleagues and leader Oleg Efremov. Here he will play his most significant roles.

Within these walls he met the great Anatoly Efros, who gave Kalyagin two roles - Fedya Protasov and Orgon Molière. They perfectly show the gullibility of the soul, thousands and thousands of its torments, flight and unforgettable male charm.

"Cinema, cinema, cinema. We are crazy about you”

And then came 1967, the year of Alexander Kalyagin's debut in the cinema - in the film "Nikolai Bauman". By the mid-70s, he had played his best roles: Vanyukin in the film "Friend among Strangers, Stranger Among Friends", Alexander Alexandrovich in "Slave of Love". This is how Alexander Kalyagin became famous, whose films became the “golden” classics of Soviet cinema. At the same time, the comedy “Hello, I am your aunt!” appeared on the screens of the country,thanks to which the actor simply took off on a wave of popularity. His hero Babs Beberley, with all his charm, penetrated the hearts of the audience, and the film, which became a cult, was simply divided into quotes: “I will kiss you. Then. If you want" or "I'm Aunt Charlie from Brazil."

A new marriage and a new life

When Alexander Kalyagin's daughter Xenia was only four years old, Tatyana Korunova died of cancer. So the actor became a single father: she did the laundry herself, cooked food, took her to kindergarten, and helped to learn lessons at school. He was madly in love with his daughter. Alexander treated his girl with such adoration that he entrusted her with choosing a new mother, because he had fears that an outside woman in their house would cause irreparable injury to the child.

Ksenia stopped her unhurried choice on the actress. So a new acting family was created: Alexander Kalyagin, Glushenko Evgenia. Alexander made acquaintance with a woman, filming with Nikita Mikhalkov in the film “An Unfinished Piece for a Mechanical Piano”, but they had a serious relationship only two years later. After the approval of the father's choice by the daughter, the wedding took place, and in 1980 the newlyweds had a son, Denis.
