The honorary title "Academic", the theater was awarded in 1977. And in 1988 he received the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

In the same year, the theater decided to expand its creative horizons and took on a new genre of musical. The first musical performance in the repertoire was the work called "The Sound of Music".

In 2005, Professor V. Filshtinsky came to the theater. He conducted a creative laboratory for the troupe, which was organized to improve the skills of artists. For the troupe, classes were held in plastic arts, acting and stage speech.

In 2011 the theater was on tour in Israel. The troupe played its performances in six cities of this country. The tour was a great success, the press, critics and spectators responded positively to the productions of the Samara drama. In the same year, the theater auditorium was renovated.

2011 was a jubilee year for the Samara drama - the theater turned 160 years old. The holiday is oversolemn and cheerful. In the first part, the artists presented a skit, and in the second part, friends and colleagues congratulated each other on the anniversary of their native theater.

Today the chief director of the Samara drama is Valery Viktorovich Grishko. The general director of the theater is Vyacheslav Alekseevich Gvozdkov.

He is lonely, but he wants human warmth, and the man cherishes the dream of having a family and a friend. The hero solves this problem in a peculiar way, attracting money for this. Monsieur Amilcar arranges home theater. He hires a homeless man as his best friend, an unemployed actress as his wife, and a young priestess of love as his daughter. All these people live in the house of Amilcar and play the roles that he offered them. At first they don't do well. But gradually they begin to believe in the proposed circumstances and already truly live the lives of their characters, experience real emotions and feelings.
