Brothers or not?

After 23 years, the creators of the cartoon made a statement that Mufasa and Scar are not siblings. According to them, these are just two lions who lived in the same pride and had a tense relationship. The creators noted that they built the confrontation between the lion Mufasa and Scar on their unequal position: one is a recognized leader by all, the other has always remained in the shadows.

Authors in additions to the cartoon have repeatedly said that they were inspired by Shakespeare's Hamlet. Therefore, they decided to make Mufasa and Scar brothers to give more drama. It was even supposed that in that famous tragic scene the cruel lion would utter the following phrase: “Good night, dear prince!”, But it was decided to replace it with “Long live the King!”. Most fans continue to consider lions as siblings.

Mufasa's appearance in the second part

After the success of the first cartoon, a sequel was released. In it, Simba acts as the leader of the pride. It tells the story of growing up of his daughter Kiara. In this part, Simba already has to learn how to make fair decisions.

Kiara meets the exile Kovu. And then her father had a nightmare: the scene of Mufasa's death, in which Simba was already on hisplace, and Kovu throws him off a cliff. This dream symbolizes the leader's distrust of the new member of the pride. At the end of the cartoon, when Simba allows the exiles to return to the pride (and Kovu), he hears the voice of his father, who is proud of him.
