Storyline

The main character of the film is Vladimir Busygin. One day he meets a young man with a strange nickname "Silva" and by the will of fate finds himself in an unfamiliar city. The train has left. Wait all night for the next one.

Young people pass by an unfamiliar house and see a father and son in the window, sorting things out. Vladimir overhears the conversation. He comes up with an adventurous thought: to impersonate the son of the owner of the house. Vladimir goes for such an act only in order to provide himself and his new friend with an overnight stay.

Sarafanov - that is the name of the owner of the house - easily believes that Vladimir is his illegitimate son. He, in turn, gets to know his new "relatives" and even in some way loves them.

Sarafanov is a musician. Heardently loves her children: Nina, Vasenka, and now her newfound son. Vladimir is struck by the sincerity and kindness of this man. In addition, the “eldest son” grew up without a father, and only now he understands how much he lacked parental participation. Lying to Sarafanov is getting harder and harder every hour.

The situation is aggravated by Nina, for whom Vladimir has far from brotherly feelings. It is worth saying that the girl loves him back.

The youngest son of Sarafanov - Vasenka - is a romantic nature. He has long been in love with Natalya, who lives next door. The lad is not at all embarrassed by the age difference: the girl is ten years older than Vasya. Silva, meanwhile, is wasting no time and decides to start an easy, non-committal romance with a neighbor of the Sarafanovs. He succeeds. However, the trouble is that when Vasenka finds out about this, in a fit of jealousy, he sets fire to Natalya's house.

Then there is a quarrel between Vladimir and Silva. The latter reveals the whole truth about the newly arrived son. Sarafanov's reaction amazes everyone present. He does not want to believe that Vladimir is not his son and says: "You are all my children, because I love you." Vladimir suddenly realizes that he was late for the train again. This is where Eldest Son ends.
