Early years
Vladimir Rogovoy was born in Kyiv. But even before the war, the family moved to Izhevsk. The parents of the future cinematographer were doctors. The Rogovs were invited to the capital of Udmurtia because of the lack of doctors. Vladimir spent his childhood in a small, two-story house, the inhabitants of which were exclusively medical workers. Rogovoi carried his love for his native land through his whole life. When he became a famous director, he regularly organized film premieres in Izhevsk.
During his school years, Vladimir attended a drama club organized by one of his teachers. In productions, he, as a rule, played the main roles. In addition, he was extremely musical. In high school, Vladimir became the head of the first schooljazz ensemble.
War
Vladimir Rogovoy is a director who is remembered today, first of all, thanks to the film "Officers". He made several war films. About the events that reflected these films, Rogovoy knew firsthand. He was barely eighteen when the war began. The future director, like other young men living in the neighborhood, went to the front as a volunteer.
In 1943, an event happened to Rogov, which he remembered until the last days of his life. There are three people in the dugout: a company commander, a political instructor and Vladimir. They are twenty five years old. Senior comrades argue that they will not live to see victory. It's a pity… Vladimir is optimistic. He believes that everyone will survive, and dreams out loud about how after the victory they will go home, find themselves girls. Just a few minutes - a direct hit in the dugout. Director of the picture
