Early years
Vitaly Vsevolodovich Mansky was born on December 2, 1963 in the Western Ukrainian city of Lvov. Father, Vsevolod Alekseevich, and mother, Victoria Alexandrovna, worked as engineers. The childhood and youth of the famous director were spent in this most beautiful ancient city, among narrow cobbled streets and churches, where absolutely everything was still saturated with Polish culture. He attended high school number 52.
In 2008, Mansky will shoot a documentary about the meeting of his classmates, who now live in different countries. The key issue was: what isHomeland for people scattered around the world who once lived in a single Soviet Union?
During his school years, Vitaly became interested in cinema and after graduating from school he firmly decided to connect his life with it. Having received a certificate, he travels to the Soviet capital to realize his dream. From the first time, the young guy manages to enter the camera department of the famous VGIK. He began to study in the workshop of A. V. Galperin. He graduated from the institute in 1990, having mastered the camera workshop of the classic of Soviet documentary filmmaking Sergei Medynsky.
First works
The debut works of director Vitaly Mansky were documentaries shot in his student years. The first two tapes "Dogs" and "Boomerang" appeared in 1987. In subsequent years, he released two more films: Post and Park of Culture. All these works have actually become stages of learning. They did not bring the young director any fame or glory. Just the next step in mastery.
In the year of graduation from VGIK, the first picture came out, in which one can note some rudiments of the future master's handwriting. It is noteworthy that it was a feature film "Jewish Happiness". It starred the future stars of Russian cinema. Representatives of an old Jewish family and their friends were played by Evgeny Steblov, Galina Mamchistova, Anna Matyukhina and Sergey Russkin.

The path to success

In the first half of the 90s, he began to actively cooperate with television. He became the author of several interesting programs, including "Family Newsreels", "Channel Five", "Real Cinema" and "Kinopodem". TV programs were broadcast on various all-Russian channels. One of the most successful was the "Real Cinema" project, which showed the best documentaries in the world. In the same 1995, Mansky was appointed to the position of head of the film screening service, and soon the general producer of the popular REN-TV channel.
Professional recognition
In 1996, the director begins his new project of archiving amateur filming, which was made in the period from 1930 to 1990 throughout the Soviet Union. Titanic, painstaking work made it possible to create a kind of encyclopedia of the country. It consisted of truly unique footage from private archives.
In 1999, Vitaly Vsevolodovich was appointed head of the display and production service of the Rossiya channel. Thanks to his work, the audience saw more than 300 non-fictionpaintings. During these years, the director himself made about 30 documentaries, which received wide recognition from critics and film lovers around the world.
