Early years

Vitaly Vsevolodovich Mansky was born on December 2, 1963 in the Western Ukrainian city of Lvov. Father, Vsevolod Alekseevich, and mother, Victoria Alexandrovna, worked as engineers. The childhood and youth of the famous director were spent in this most beautiful ancient city, among narrow cobbled streets and churches, where absolutely everything was still saturated with Polish culture. During his school years, Vitaly became interested in cinema and after graduating from school he firmly decided to connect his life with it. Having received a certificate, he travels to the Soviet capital to realize his dream. From the first time, the young guy manages to enter the camera department of the famous VGIK. He began to study in the workshop of A. V. Galperin. He graduated from the institute in 1990, having mastered the camera workshop of the classic of Soviet documentary filmmaking Sergei Medynsky.

The debut works of director Vitaly Mansky were documentaries shot in his student years. The first two tapes "Dogs" and "Boomerang" appeared in 1987.
