Scandal

Gennady Yanin's career at the Bolshoi Theater was more than successful. Even after reaching an age critical for dancers, the artist did not leave his walls. At the time of the photo scandal, he had been managing the Bolshoi Ballet Company for more than 8 years. Moreover, it was Yanin who was considered one of the most likely candidates for the position of artistic director of the BT ballet. However, his career as an artist was interrupted by unknown attackers.

In March 2011, a website designed in the colors of the Bolshoi Theater appeared on the Russian Internet. About 200 pornographic pictures were posted on its pages. One of the "heroes" of the photo shoot, which aroused great interest among those who like to delve into someone else's dirty linen, was a man very similar to Gennady Yanin. In addition, someone organized a mass mailing of the address of a scandalous Internet resource by e-mail.

The worst thing was that Yanina's underage daughter also received the letter.

The dancer could not stand the pressure exerted on him from all sides, and submitted a letter of resignation from his post at the Bolshoi Theater. For a long time he had to witness how the details of his personal life were savored by "yellow"publications.

Who is to blame: opinions

The fact that the publication of pictures discrediting Gennady Yanin was a well-planned action, no one doubted. Another thing is that it was difficult to name the culprit of this event, since talented people always have a lot of ill-wishers. In addition, it is known that the service of high art is not a guarantee of a person's decency. There are many examples in history when artists arranged intrigues and even committed crimes in order to remove an opponent from the stage in the struggle for fame and love of the audience.

According to the then general director of the Bolshoi Theater, the famous dancer Nikolai Tsiskaridze could have been involved in the action against Gennady Yanin. Anatoly Iskanov did not directly accuse the star of complicity or organization of this demarche, which was aimed at the moral destruction of Yanin. However, in his interviews, he noted that it was Tsiskaridze who was responsible for the unhe althy atmosphere in the Bolshoi.

Besides, it was he who "marked" for the title of artistic director of BT, the most likely candidate for which was Gennady Yanin.

By the way, 2 years later a much more terrible crime happened at the Bolshoi Theater. The artistic director of the BT ballet, Sergei Filin, was doused with acid and said goodbye to his profession forever. Tsiskaridze's comments

Iskanov's interview is goneunnoticed. Nikolai Tsiskaridze spoke to the press and noted that he had nothing to do with the porn scandal. According to Nikolai, he was friends with Yanin for many years and could not wish for the destruction of his friend's successful career.

Tsiskaridze himself accused Anatoly Iskanov. He hinted that the latter offered Yanin a guest contract with a large theater, on the condition that Gennady would support his version of Nikolai's involvement in the distribution of pornographic images. Among the true culprits of the "pornogate" at the Bolshoi, the dancer named Sergei Filin, whose friends, according to him, called the members of the troupe and asked them to sign an angry letter about Yanin's "immorality".

Career after scandal

No matter how hard the ill-wishers tried, they failed to remove Gennady Yanin from the ballet profession. A vivid confirmation of this was his participation in 2015 in the 28th Nureyev festival. In the opinion of both specialists and spectators, the performance "Anyuta" by Valery Gavrilin, staged by Vladimir Vasiliev, became the brightest event of this festival of dance art. Although Gennady Yanin left the ballet 10 years ago, it was he who was entrusted with one of the main parts, which he performed, proving that real skill does not die.
