That day was remembered by the theater actors, guests and spectators for a long time. On the stage, the events of the production of "Number 13" based on the play by Ray Cooney unfolded. And in the theatrical sky that evening a new star lit up - the new Comedy Theater in Moscow was born … This event took place in 2009, January 31.
Student production
The director of the very first performance was graduate student Sergei Efremov, who since 2011 has been officially appointed director and artistic director of the Comedy Theater. But in 2009, after graduating from an educational institution, students of several courses decided to combine their creative efforts in order to create a single thesis. This is how the production of "Number 13" turned out.
But after that memorable performance in 2009, the newly-made theater "lived" for only one season. And there was no building of its own yet, and even a name! Because everything happened on the stage of the Theater Institute. B. Schukin. And the play "Number 13" was soon removed from the repertoire, because the students who played in it graduated from an educational institution andgraduated.
Further formation of the young theater
But the director and future director of the theater continued, with maniacal perseverance, to look for opportunities for his play "Number 13" to be on stage again! And life led him to the Romen Theater in Moscow, where he, together with Alexander Klimushin, decides to stage the production.
They restore the scenery, purchase costumes and everything necessary for the performance at their own expense. Soon, together with the agency "Art-Voyage", they organize the creative festival "Student Wednesday", at which the play "Number 13" is again staged. The performance went brilliantly and was a huge success. The performance continues to live on the stage for some time, but then its show is suspended for 6 months - for a number of financial reasons.
In 2010 the festival "New Premiere" takes place and again on the stage "Number 13". In the same period, a student troupe was formed and the theater already officially declares itself as the Moscow Comedy Theater, but does not yet have a status as such. There is a new production of "Love at the rate" (based on the novel by N. Kolyada) directed by Vyacheslav Ivanov.
And in 2011, in May, the theater acquires official status, director Sergey Efremov takes over.
To this day, the Comedy Theater in Moscow welcomes guests. Address: Nakhimovsky Avenue, 35.
