Emo style came to Russia in the early 90s and found its supporters. Most domestic bands perform tracks under the label "emo band". Russian teenagers and young people find pleasure and a special zest in their works.

Emo - what is it?

Sometimes the older generation shrug their shoulders in bewilderment and ask what this direction is, why young people listen to such music.

Emo is a term that characterizes a special style in music and singing, which is characterized by increased emotional performance of songs and complete or partial randomness in music, or lack of it.

In the singing of the emo vocalist, the corresponding sounds can be traced, which convey strong emotions and experiences of the vocalist: roar, squeal, whisper, moan, cry.

The emergence of a new culture

Emo originated in the 90s on the basis of hardcore punk and indie rock. The style is divided into two directions: emo-core and emo-rock

The peculiar manner of performance is alien to music lovers of the older generation, but amonggrowing youth, foreign and Russian emo groups are becoming popular. The deep emotions of the vocalists, which are expressed in music, help teenagers open up and find an outlet for their own feelings, worries and anxieties.

List of Russian emo bands

Among the musical ensembles developing in the "emo" direction, young people distinguish several groups that are popular among adherents of this style:

1. "Ocean of my hope" - the group announced itself in 2006 and immediately stood out with a special style of performing songs and music. A large current of fans supported the promotional emo culture and elevated "Ocean of My Hope" to the rank of popular performers. The band's songs talk about love, despair, hopes and disappointments. The soloist of the group emphasized that all the texts are autobiographical in nature and tell the audience about the feelings experienced by the participants.



2. "Dreams come true" - a group with an optimistic name could not help but make a splash among music lovers and lovers of emo-core. The guys of the musical group at first were lost in what style they should play, but the creation of music and songs went by itself. Subsequently, the group acquired its fans and the status of "bright cool Russian emo band".
3. "Line" - the musical composition, which, like a diverse style in music, was subject to change. The group conveys the atmosphere of the birth of emo style, and is very loved among fans of this direction.



4. Kasatka is a Moscow emo band. The band's first concert took place in an abandoned shooting range. The guys don't have many songs, but all of their tracks are wonderful works, imbued with undisguised emotions.
5. "Origami" is a Russian emo-rock band that started its existence in 2001. In one of the clips, the soloist defiles around the stage in a modest dress, which further emphasizes the emotional experiences expressed in the song.



6. "Mayak" is a team created from Moscow musicians. Calm songs, simple clips bring a bit of naivety and nostalgia to emo culture.
7. "The Day After Tomorrow" - the charisma and energy of the group attracts its own crowd of fans of the talent of these guys.
8. "3,000 Miles to Heaven" is a St. Petersburg group founded in 2005. The Russian emo-core band plays rather hard alternative rock. Soloist Ilya Lazarev performs hits with appropriate sincerity and heartbreaking notes in his voice. The titles of the songs convey the fullness of the experiences inherent in youth: "Love is harder than killing love", "Minus me", "When I'm not around".



9. "30 Days of February" is one of the brightest emo bands. A devoted audience, numerous performances and frequent rehearsals have elevated the group to the rank of "the most daring, capable of making everyone empathize with the spiritual longing of unhappy love."
10. "Those days are gone, they can't be returned" -the name of the group sounds like a line of a song, and conveys the desperate atmosphere of the hits performed by the guys. Beautiful lyrics and bright melodic rock do not leave this band unnoticed.

Emo is a decent topic

The list of Russian emo bands is much more extensive than the one presented above. Emo culture is developing and every year the number of its adherents is increasing.

Russian emo-groups are distinguished from other directions by sincere texts and high emotionality of vocalists. In vain this trend is subjected to some criticism. Emo music is songs about love, hope, friendship, people around, about gray everyday life and a holiday in the soul, about hope that helps to live.
