Dramatic Theater named after. Pushkin (Magnitogorsk) was founded in the first half of the 20th century. Initially, the repertoire included performances based on plays by Soviet playwrights of that time. Today, various performances can be seen here.

History of the theater

The Pushkin Theater (Magnitogorsk), the photo of the building of which is presented in this article, began its career in the 1930s. At that time, the construction of a metallurgical plant was just beginning in the city. Initially, it was a propaganda team, in which the best representatives of amateur arts who had working professions acted as artists - diggers, fitters, concrete workers, electricians, and so on. Performances were played right in the workshops, on construction sites, in hostels. In the early years, the position of head of the musical department was occupied by the remarkable Soviet composer Matvey Blanter.

The city committee of the Komsomol in 1932 decided to create a theater of working youth (TRAM) on the basis of the propaganda team. He was the very first professional in Magnitogorsk. Patronage overhe took over the capital's Maly Theater. He sent his directors here. The first performance of the Magnitogorsk theater that became professional was the play "Street of Joy".

In 1935 TRAM was transformed into a drama theater. In 1937 he received the name of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. During the war years, many actors went to the front. Nevertheless, the theater continued its work. The remaining actors created brigades and went to military units and hospitals in order to raise the morale of the defenders of the Motherland with their work. In 1967 the theater received a new building. The years of the 70s were marked by the fact that at that time the repertoire included performances staged based on the works of the great Russian poet, whose name is the Magnitogorsk drama, Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin.

The eighties were hard for the theatre. And as a result, in the summer of 1990, it was closed. And in the fall of the same year, it opened again, but was reorganized into the New Experimental Drama Theater. Vladimir Dosaev became its director, who in a short time turned it into a successful one and included it among the most interesting in the country.

From 1993 to 2007, the Magnitogorsk drama was the organizer of the Theater Without Borders festival. Troupes from different cities and countries came here. In 1997, the Magnitogorsk drama again became the Pushkin Drama Theater.

In 2008 a great event took place. The Thunderstorm production by the Magnitogorsk Theater was awarded the Golden Mask Award in the Best Small Form Performance nomination.

Today, the Drama Theater is actively touring, travels to prestigious festivals in variouscountries and consistently brings awards. Since 2010, Maxim Kalsin has been the chief director. The repertoire of the theater consists of classics, as well as modern plays by foreign and Russian playwrights.

Magnitogorsk drama is one of the most famous in the country. According to Forbes magazine, it is one of the ten most interesting provincial theaters that are recommended for foreigners visiting this city.

My poor Marat

One of the premieres of 2015, which the Pushkin Theater (Magnitogorsk) first showed on its stage on May 5, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Great Victory, is the play “My poor Marat”. It was staged based on a play by Alexei Arbuzov. The heroes of the performance are very young, almost children, Marat, Lika and Leonidik. The action takes place in besieged Leningrad.

War is a difficult period in the life of any person. At this terrible time, the nerves are exposed. Everything is more intense. Values are reevaluated. No horror film can compare with war. And it is in such difficult conditions that each person shows what he really is and what he is worth. In the play, the emotions of the characters are very sharply shown. "My Poor Marat" offers the viewer a whole range of problems, such as loy alty, duty, love, sacrifice, friendship. How will the heroes of the play show themselves in monstrous conditions?

Snow Wonders

The Pushkin Drama Theater (Magnitogorsk) offers young viewers from December 24, 2015 until the end of the New Year holidays to watch the Snow Wonders beligrim show. Boys and girls are invited inside a huge snowdrift, where cheerful little people live. They are called beligrims. They are inventors, naughty, dreamers and inventors. Either they make a camera out of a matchbox, or they hide in their minks and throw snowballs, or they take huge straws and arrange an orchestra. They can quite unexpectedly appear on the seabed, where colorful fish and jellyfish live. There is a character Chistyulya in this fairy tale. He does not likepranks, he likes only order. He believes that Santa Claus will not come to those who are hooligans and make a mess.

Chief Director

Maxim Kalsin is an interesting person whose biography deserves to be staged a play. He was born in a small town where there was no theater at all. Until the age of 30, Maxim was very unfamiliar with this art form. By that time, he had visited theaters only a few times. First, he graduated from the Faculty of History of Moscow State University. But he did not defend his dissertation, because he realized that he did not want to lead the life of a historian - to sit in libraries, take part in conferences, and so on. Then Maxim decided to change his life and went into business. He owned a chain of bookstores. But agedAt the age of 30, I realized that I was not doing my own thing, gave up everything and entered VGIK at the directing department. He came to the Pushkin Theater (Magnitogorsk) in 2010. Now he is happy that he can create, feels in his place and understands that he is doing his own thing.
