“The Undertaker”, Pushkin: a summary of the story

Adriyan Prokhorov finally fulfilled his dream and moved to a house he liked for a long time from Basmannaya Street to Nikitskaya. But the novelty frightens the man a little, and he does not feel much joy from the move. In order to show the commitment of an ordinary person to the usual routine, Pushkin wrote the story "The Undertaker". Its summary tells about a gloomy man of an unusual profession.

Meet new neighbors

Adriyan Prokhorov worked as an undertaker, his character was fully consistent with the profession, the man was unsociable, gloomy and taciturn. He was not interested in everyday worries, Adrian, after the move, was sad that he would not lose a client - the merchant Tryukhina, who was dying. Pushkin also wanted to highlight the greedy nature of a person in the story "The Undertaker". The holiday went on as usual until the owner offered to drink to the he alth of those for whom they work. And then the baker offered Adrian to drink to the he alth of his dead. Strange guests

Pushkin's story "The Undertaker" comes to a climax at the moment when the drunken Prokhorov comes home. He is very angry with the Germans, who ridiculed him, because he considers his craft to be no worse than their work. In anger, the man tells his worker that he would rather invite the dead to a housewarming party than his neighbors. The woman advises him to cross himself, but Adriyan does not listen to her.

How often we wishful thinking was shown by Pushkin in the story "The Undertaker". The summary says that Prokhorov was raised early in the morning, because the clerk Tryukhina arrived with the message that the merchant's wife had died, and Adrian's services were required. The undertaker went to Razgulyai, where he spent the whole day in trouble, in the evening, having finished his business, the man walkedwent home.

Approaching the house, Prokhorov noticed that someone was entering his gate, then someone else approached, vaguely familiar to the owner. And then Adrian sees with horror that the dead, whom he once buried, are coming to visit him. They all rushed to greet Prokhorov, one even climbed up to hug. The undertaker pushed him away, and the poor fellow immediately crumbled. The rest of the dead did not like such rough treatment, and they began to threaten Adrian, after which the owner fainted.

Awakening

With the thought of how good it is that some events are a dream, Pushkin wrote The Undertaker. The main characters are ordinary people with their own problems and worries. Prokhorov was so worried about the loss of earnings and got angry at new acquaintances that he had a strange and somewhat terrible dream. The man woke up in the morning and, according to the stories of the worker, realized that Tryukhina was not dying, and after returning from the shoemaker, he slept all the time. After that, the undertaker breathed a sigh of relief and ordered the samovar to be put in.
