The novel "Oblomov" by writer Ivan Alexandrovich Goncharov was published in 1859. It is part of a trilogy with other works: "Cliff" and "Ordinary History". Work on the novel was extremely slow, over the course of twelve years.
It was this time that became fatal for Russian literature. One after another, the walls separating the nobles from the poor fell. A new type was emerging, different from the lazy and selfish rich. Writers extolled the philosophy of the superman of the era and ridiculed the old ideals. Goncharov's work is full of such bright characters.
The indefatigable dreamer and couch potato
It is impossible to understand why Oblomov fell in love with Olga without analyzing his personality in detail. The protagonist of the novel, Ilya Ilyich, is a we althy nobleman living in St. Petersburg. His life is at first sight insipid, devoid of joy.
A man's favorite pastime is to lie on the couch and plunge into the world of dreams. At the time of the events in the novel, he was in his early thirties. In appearance, he is weak and chubby, constant laziness brought him to this. Oblomov of medium height, many consider his appearance attractive. Dark gray eyes constantly radiate peacefulness that spreads around him in waves. Despite the lethargy of the character, the reader is imbued with warm, friendly feelings towards him. He is a dreamer, so unlike the other characters in the book.
Love is imposed by chance
Life flows smoothly. But everything changes as soon as Ilinskaya appears. Reading the book carefully, it is not difficult to understand why Oblomov fell in love with Olga. During the period of their meeting, Ilya Ilyich, for the first time in a long time, truly lived a full life. Andrei Stolz, a friend of the protagonist, pulled Oblomov out of the nets of dreams with his energy and efficiency and forced him to plunge into a real world full of real emotions. And there a woman was waiting for him, who at first sight captivated him with her beauty and complex artistry. Perhaps, if there had not been a fatal visit to the Ilyinsky house, Oblomov would have fallen in love with another beautiful lady.
Perfect object of love
In the head of Ilya Ilyich there was already an ideal woman, and she was a reflection of his beloved village - Oblomovka, the place where he spent his childhood. The perfect lady should be the same as the atmosphere in the village - peaceful, comfortable, well-coordinated. Looking into the thoughts of the character, the reader will find out why Oblomov fell in love with Olga. The dream of a modest and humble beauty who will fit into the landscape of Oblomovka has long been living in his heart. A young girl is the embodiment of harmony, to which a man so aspired. Her voice, face, behavior - everything was captivating. Being a shy person, he himself would never have dared to approach the magical Ilyinskaya, but the girl herself took the first steps.
The romance was gaining momentum, mutual sympathy arose. But different plans for each other immediately doomed the young people to the failure of their relationship. Ilya Ilyich changed his habits and completely surrendered to pure feeling. And only then I realized that his picture image is far from the essence that the chosen one hides in herself. Why did Oblomov fall in love with Olga? You can think about this topic for a long time. She was pretty, quiet, submissive, from a respectful family and, most importantly, not indifferent to him. But they parted for only one reason - various considerations for a happy family life.
Double Feelings
A quiet and simple-looking girl carried her own world in herself, which she tried to artificially instill in others. During the period of maximum confidence in the truth of her ideals, she met Ilya Ilyich. Why Oblomov fell in love with Olga Ilyinskaya is clear, but what the cheerful girl found in an unusual dreamer remained a mystery for a long time. The secret was revealed when the bride-to-be revealed her true intentions. Oblomov from the first minute of the meeting was a challenge to her lifestyle. The self-confident girl decided not only to win the heart of a man, but also to radically change his ideals.
In the slow and peaceful life of a man, she could not discern a single theory worthy of respect. The beauty believes in boundless happiness, while her beloved is deeply convinced that such a concept does not exist. He believes in the disinterestedness of feelings and sincerely relies on the innocence and purity of the feelings of the chosen one. And the girl is goodknows that she can truly give her heart to a man only after he undergoes her provocations, changes his ideals and lifestyle. How and why Oblomov fell in love with Olga, it is known that the main reason for the birth of feelings is a narrow perception of the individual.
The main character's only love
The deep state of mind of Oblomov can be seen only by getting into it. All its principles and stereotypes have a scientific, psychological justification. The philosophy of Ilya Ilyich was created by Oblomovka. The picturesque village has forever left an imprint on the heart of a person. There was no hypocrisy, double benefit, fuss and gossip, that is, all that high society was so proud of. The planet of his childhood was full of goodness and a sense of the importance of man on this earth. Knowing perfection, he kept it a secret.
But why did Oblomov fall in love with Olga? Yes, because he was ready to share his discovery with another person. Unfortunately, the chosen one also prepared another space for her beloved, completely opposite to his dimension. As a result of the meeting of two contrasts, nothing could develop. Ilya remained true to his only love - Oblomovka.
Every disappointment is a step towards a dream
Despite a number of pessimistic events in the novel, the work is bright and carries a positive idea of faith and hope. Although the author does not justify the plans of his heroes, nevertheless he gives each of them a chance to realize mistakes and draw conclusions. It is instructive thatsome of the characters do not have enough time to start a new life. Oblomov and Olga in Goncharov's novel are two parallel figures who were not destined to meet.
However, it was this bitter experience in love that opened up new fronts for them. Ilya Ilyich found his happiness in Pshenitsyna. And Ilyinskaya saw a companion in Andrey. The creator of the book allowed his main characters to find what they had been striving for and hard for so long.
