The Drama Theater (Barnaul) has existed since 1921. His current repertoire includes works by contemporary authors, fairy tales for children and immortal classics, often in his own original interpretation.

About the theater

The Drama Theater (Barnaul), the photo of the hall of which is presented in this article, is the oldest in Altai and one of the largest in Western Siberia.

In 1991 the theater was named after Vasily Shukshin. Throughout all the years of its existence, the team has not changed its credo: to selflessly serve art and show spectacular performances with deep meaning at a high professional level. The troupe currently employs 40 actors.

The Drama Theater (Barnaul), in addition to performances, invites its viewers to visit the museum exposition, which operates constantly. As well as temporary exhibitions and tours of the temple of dramatic art itself.

The main hall can accommodate 711 spectators. The pilot is designed for 183 seats.

The theater was repeatedly awarded prizes from the heads of the city and the region. In 2009 it was declared the enterprise of the year. Awarded the Demidov Prize. Received diplomas, including the Grand Prixat theater festivals. In 2009, 2011 and 2014 he was awarded special jury prizes at the Golden Mask theater award.

B. Shukshin

The Drama Theater (Barnaul) has always included in its repertoire performances based on the works of V. Shukshin. Even in the 90s, when the fashion for this author passed and almost all troupes in the country stopped staging performances based on him. Life has become different, and his characters have become irrelevant. Barnaul drama, one of the few, remained true to Vasily Shukshin. The repertoire of the theater to this day includes his works. More recently, performances based on V. Shukshin have again come into fashion and have appeared in the repertoires of many troupes. Today, works by this author are on stage, which have never seen the stage before. And those that were popular in the Soviet era are almost never staged today.
