In 1989, the Japanese manga "Ghost in the Shell" was first published. The science fiction story was originally published as short stories, later compiled into one volume. The manga is set in mid-twenty-first century Japan. The country is subject to attacks by cyberterrorists. To combat them, the organization "Ninth Division" was created, the best agent of which was Motoko Kusanagi.
The story attracted readers so much that soon an anime was made based on the manga. To date, the series has grown to twelve manga adaptations and one feature film. But for those who just heard about this story, one question worries: what is the order to watch the "Ghost in the Shell"?

The popular actress Scarlett Johansson starred in the story of the 2017 release. The choice of the lead actress caused a wave of indignation in the West, where the creators were accused of racism. However, in Japan itself, fans of the series approved of Johansson, seeing her as Major Kusanagi. For them, the indignation of Western critics also remained incomprehensible, especially since the picture turned out to be breathtaking.
