Mark Millar was born December 24, 1969 in Scotland. His official career as a comic book writer began in the mid-90s, when he began to receive offers from major publishers. As for such giants as MarvelComics and DC Comics, Millar managed to work with both of them. A series of comics called Wanted - one of his most popular works - received its adaptation in 2008 from the famous director Timur Bekmambetov (in Russian the film was called "Especially dangerous").
Early Biography
Mark Millar began to get involved in comics as a child. He decided to think about his own work after meeting Alan Moore, whose work he always admired.
Millar decided not to graduate from university and dropped out in his senior year, deciding to devote his time to creating comics. He got his first big experience in 1989 at TridentComics (a publishing house in Leicester), and his first success came with the superhero comic "The Savior".
Working withDC Comics
Soon Mark Millar's comics projects began to attract industry giants. The first to notice British talent were DC Comics. It was they who invited Millar to the team of Grant Morrison to create the Swamp Thing. In parallel with the DC projects, the author continued to work on his British series, which was called "2000 AD." Other comics penned by Mark Millar are The Adventures of Superman, The Flash, and Justice League.
After some time, he had a chance to replace Warren Ellis as the main author of the popular comics "Power". Despite the successful development of his career, Millar had to work under constant control and censorship from the publisher. As a result, he decided to leave DC Comics in 2002.
Working with MarvelComics
Shortly after leaving DC, Millar joined the Marvel team. Together with Brian M. Bendis, he began to write an alternative universe of classic comics, transferring famous heroes to the modern realities of the 21st century. Specifically, Millar worked on the releases of X-Men and Ultimates, and in 2006 he created a unique crossover, which was called "Civil War". His joint series with Bendis was "Fantastic Four". The author continues to do this to this day.
The rights to Millar's free-swimming comics are owned by his personal company, MillarWorld. Themother smaller publishers do the publishing from time to time.
As for film adaptations, in addition to "Wanted", Mark Millar also sold the rights to several popular series, such as Kick-ass, "The Chosen One", "Secret Service" and "War Heroes". Some of them have already received their films.
