The superhero "Wasp" makes her debut in Tales to Astonish 44 for the first time. Janet was the daughter of a we althy and successful scientist named Vernon van Dyne. However, during one of the experiments, Janet's father was killed by a terrible alien monster. The girl was depressed by the death of a loved one, but there was no time for grief. Pym uses these particles on Janet. As a result, the girl getsincredible abilities.

By joining forces, Hank Pym and Janet defeat the monster, sending it to its home dimension. After that, the superhero duo does not stop their activities. Pym and Janet continue their joint fight against evil (Ant-Man and the Wasp). Soon they join the superhero team "The Avengers" and, along with Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk, fight Loki.

Further events

For several years, Janet participates in the "Avengers" and soon becomes their leader. As for her relationship with Hank, everything is rather complicated and ambiguous. One day, the Avengers Tower was attacked by Yellowjacket, who claimed to have killed Hank Pym (we are talking about Marvel comics). Wasp, in turn, stated that she intended to marry him, which caused resentment from the other members of the team. However, as it turned out later, Hank Pym was hiding under the guise of the Yellow Jacket. He had an accident, as a result of which he developed schizophrenia. Janet knew about it.

Later, the relationship between the Wasp and Ant-Man heats up even more. Hank received another mental disorder, as a result of which he became paranoid. As a result of such metamorphoses, Pym became very rude. Once, in a fit of rage, Pym hit Janet. After that, the couple divorced. However, after a few years, Pim's position improved. So Janet rekindled her romantic relationship with Hank.

Mass Events

Living in the comics"Marvel" Wasp quite often participates in global events and, as a rule, plays an important role there. For example, during the Secret Invasion, Janet, along with other Avengers, fought off the attack of the Skrulls. She also took a new serum given to her by Hank Pym. But, as it turned out later, it was one of the Skrull shapeshifters. After Queen Veranke's defeat, the fake Pym presses a button that causes Janet to grow in size uncontrollably. This leads to the fact that the heroine of "Marvel", Wasp, turns into a real biological bomb. In order to save the Earth, Thor makes a difficult decision. He kills Janet, thus putting her out of her misery.

Hank Pym, in turn, is having a hard time with the death of his wife. In order to somehow alleviate the pain of loss, he puts on the cloak of his deceased wife and works under the pseudonym "Wasp" for some time.

Powers and abilities

Perhaps Janet's main ability is resizing. A girl from the Marvel Universe, Wasp, is able to both reduce and increase the size of her body. This power is given by a special substance called "Pym Particles", which was developed by her husband. For a long time, Janet could use her powers only under the influence of this substance. However, due to frequent use, the structure of her body has changed, and thanks to this, the Wasp can change body measurements at will, without any aids.

Also don't forget about the implanted wings, thanks to which the Wasp can fly at a speed of 40 miles per hour. However, she can only use her wings when she is less than 4 inches tall.

Another ability is the so-called Wasp Sting. Janet can generate special energy pulses that can even break through concrete. Initially, Janet wore a special device that created energy for the impulse. But later, due to exposure to Pym particles, she gained the ability to create energy blasts on her own.

Marvel: Wasp in Ultimate

In the "Ultimate" universe, the image of Janet has been radically changed: she is a mutant. Her abilities include the ability to shrink and the ability to create an organic stinger. However, the flip side of the coin is the laying of larvae, as a real wasp does. Among other things, the authors decided to change the nationality of the character. So, in "Ultimate" Janet is Asian. However, some things remained unchanged. For example, Janet is also married to Hank Pym. In addition, she is a member of the Ultimates (the local equivalent of the Avengers).
