The Soviet Union was officially recognized as the most reading country in the world. Therefore, it is not surprising that there were also many writers in the USSR. They wrote mainly about the life of Soviet people, the same as themselves. And now life has changed a lot, there is no longer that state, there are no many realities of that time, over the past years a new generation has grown up, knowing about how it was before, only by hearsay. But it’s so interesting how it all happened: how parents, grandparents lived, what was different and what remained unchanged. Where to find this information, except in the stories of predecessors? You can turn to history textbooks, or you can open a fiction book, because it is in them that all the subtleties of the life of ordinary people are revealed, what worried them and what made them happy, what problems they faced and how they solved them. Biography

Writer Markov Georgy Mokeevichwas born in 1911 in the village of Novo-Kuskovo, which is located in the Tomsk region. Markov's father was a hunter, his mother was a peasant. From childhood, the future author of works about the life of ordinary Siberians saw all its ins and outs: both hungry poverty and hard exhausting work, but, of course, there were joys in village life, Georgy Mokeevich also wrote about them. For example, in the children's magazine "Comrade", whose editor he worked until 1941. When the war began, he became a war correspondent, was a member of the Trans-Baikal Front. In 1943 he joined the Writers' Union. After demobilization with the rank of major, the writer Markov lived for a long time in his homeland and only in 1956 moved to Moscow. In the capital, he entered politics, moreover, quite successfully - he achieved high positions, for example, for several years he was a deputy of the Council of the Union of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from the city of Moscow. However, social activities did not prevent the writer from being creative. Georgy Mokeevich Markov's books were popular with his contemporaries. They are still reading them now.

Awards

Writer Markov was awarded a considerable number of prizes and awards. So, he became a laureate of the Stalin, Lenin Prizes, twice he was awarded the honorary title of Hero of Socialist Labor. In addition to other awards given to the author in the Soviet Union, Markov also won international awards, for example, the Lotus Prize and the Big Bulgarian Literary Prize Sofia.

Books

The writer Markov is the author of several novels and short stories,a considerable number of stories and journalistic essays, two plays that are dedicated both to the life of the Soviet people in peacetime and to the military exploits of soldiers. And one of his most famous works - the novel "Strogoffs" - tells how ordinary people lived in the Siberian hinterland in revolutionary times, how the war influenced their fate, how their lives changed during great historical events. The novel turned out to be so successful that later Markov wrote the book "S alt of the Earth", and then another work "To the Coming Age", which continue the story of the heroes.

Screenings

Markov's works were loved not only by readers, but also by fans of movies and TV shows. Many of the author's novels were filmed by the most famous directors of that time. For example, the eight-episode film Strogoffs of 1976 even received a diploma from the 7th All-Union Television Film Festival. The series starred such popular Soviet actors as Boris Borisov (as Matvey Zakharovich Strogov), Lyudmila Zaitseva (played Anna Strogova), Lyudmila Gurchenko (revolutionary Kapitolina), and many others. After the continuation of the novel was published, a film version was also filmed by order of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.

Death of a writer

Georgy Mokeevich Markov died in 1991 at the age of 81 due to a long illness. The writer was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery. In memory of the author on his smallin his homeland - in the village of Novo-Kuskovo - in 2012, his bust was erected, and in the city of Irkutsk, of which the author was recognized as an honorary citizen, there is a memorial plaque in his honor. Literary meetings and readings dedicated to Georgy Markov are regularly held in Tomsk, Irkutsk and even in Moscow.

The father's work is continued by one of the daughters. Olga Markova became a writer, while the second daughter of the author still (she is over seventy years old) plays in the theater.
