The Drama Theater in Ryazan is one of the oldest in the country. He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. His repertoire includes drama, comedy, classics, contemporary plays and children's stories.

History

The Drama Theater of the city of Ryazan was opened in 1787. At that time, a wooden building was built for him. It was originally called the Opera House. The first troupe consisted of serfs and freedmen actors. The repertoire then included performances based on the works of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, William Shakespeare, Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol. Later, plays by A. Chekhov and A. Ostrovsky appeared on the Ryazan stage. Famous actors, including those from other countries, came to the theater on tour. In 1862, the Opera House acquired a new status - it became the city's drama theater. Its own troupe appeared here in 1935. Today, the chief director of the theater is Karen Nersisyan. Festival

Drama Theater (Ryazan) holds a festival on its stage. It's called The Theater Syndrome. It is organized by the M. Prokhorov Foundation. Thanks to this festival, the audience has the opportunity to see the best performances of Russian and European troupes. The organizers set themselves the goal of “infecting” the audience with love for the theatre. The festival program includes productions of various genres, classics and experimental projects, performances for adults, children and families.

Museum

Drama Theater (Ryazan) invites its viewers to visit the museum. Its opening took place in 1987. Its creation was timed to coincide with the bicentennial anniversary of the Ryazan drama. Workers of regional museums were engaged in its design. The exposition offers visitors stands with posters and programs of past years. Also here you can see photographs that tell about the history of the theater. The showcases show costumes from productions, awards, diplomas, as well as souvenirs brought from the tour. The museum can be visited before the performance or during the intermission.
