One of the greatest artists in the world - Pablo Picasso. His works are admired not only by connoisseurs of painting, but also by people who are simply connoisseurs of beauty. The artist's paintings inspire with deep meaning and idea. For example, "Still Life" by Picasso. I want to look at it again and again … Nowadays, they have fabulous prices. No wonder these paintings are also the most popular among kidnappers.

The life of a great artist

Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga (Spain), October 25, 1881. He is one of the founders of the direction in painting - cubism. Picasso is a Spanish artist, although he is considered French, as he lived almost all his life in France. He was not only a painter. Pablo Picasso also worked in ceramics, sculpture, graphics and design. He had a huge following. He made a great contribution to the development of various areas of fine arts, painting in particular. Throughout his life, he created about 20 thousand works.

Studied art in Madrid, inRoyal Academy of San Fernando. Later the artist moved to Paris. Life there was difficult, and he initially lived in Bateau Lavoir. This is the famous Montmartre hostel. But nothing prevented him from developing and looking for his direction.

Even during the war, he continued his work. In 1944, Pablo Picasso became a member of the Communist Party in France. In 1945, he met a girl named Françoise Gilot. She became one of the many lovers of the artist, but greatly influenced his work.

Pablo Picasso died on April 8, 1973, in Mougins.

Picasso's works

Every period of Pablo's life was reflected in his canvases. The years 1901-1904 are considered the "blue" period in the artist's work. It was not easy for him at that time, and his paintings were filled with the theme of poverty, death and sadness. They were dominated by blue tones (“Woman with a Hair Bun”, “Date”).

The "pink" period of Picasso reflects the move to Paris, his work is filled with more and more pink hues. The circus and the theater influenced this (“Girl on a ball”, “Acrobat family with a monkey”).

Next was cubism, the founder of which is considered to be Picasso himself. Everything natural was rejected in it and transformed into blocks of geometric shapes (“Factory in Horta de Ebro”, “Avignon Maidens”).

Since 1925, Picasso begins a difficult period of surrealism. It is permeated with an atmosphere of psychedelics, hallucinations, hysteria ("Seated Bather", "Dance").

During the war, the main theme of his paintings was pacifism("Dove of peace"). Also bitterness, anxiety and darkness ("Weeping Woman", "Morning Serenade").

And only after the war, family life and the birth of two children became the main theme of his works ("Joy of Life").

Still Life by Picasso

Indeed, this most talented artist has a lot of brilliant works. But I would like to focus my attention on the painting by Pablo Picasso "Still Life" of 1945. In fact, it was called Leek, Skull and Peaches. At the time, this was not the only work of its kind.

The painting "Still Life" by Picasso was written in the last year of the war, it has a lot of blue and lilac colors, but the skull is different in golden color. The artist brightened the canvas along the edges, which looks like the sun's rays. It symbolized the end of the war, a peaceful future, where there is no place for skulls, but only for still lifes.
