Today's young viewers have to explain how TNT and STS, NTV and MTV stand for. And half a century ago, only three programs broadcast in Russia. Today, there are more than a hundred TV channels in the country, and they offer such a rich and diverse range of programs and films that they never dreamed of before. And if the creators of the TNT channel (“Your New Television”) are often accused of immorality, and the authors of NTV (it cannot be deciphered in any way) are blamed for promoting a criminal subculture, then critics of the STS television network, by and large, have nothing to show. To the question of how STS is deciphered, it would be quite possible to answer: “Modern, trendy, stunning.” But it's not.
These three golden letters have been shining on our TV screens for almost 17 years. And even if you are not a fan of this channel - no, no, yes, and look there in the hope of seeing something fresh and interesting. STS channel manages to providequality leisure for viewers with different status, education, taste and sense of humor. Its playbill is replete with entertaining films and programs, among which educational programs also find a place.
How does STS stand for? This is an abbreviation of the full name "Network of Television Stations". This network cooperates with regional TV stations in more than a thousand settlements of the Russian Federation.
A trip to history
In the year of its inception (1996) to the question of how STS is deciphered, one could answer: “Commonwe alth of Television Stations”. It consisted of 8 regional channels, including the St. Petersburg Channel Six and Moscow AMTV, and broadcast only 9 hours a day. Sergei Skvortsov was the general director of the association. With the advent of Alexander Rodnyansky to this post (2002), the concept of broadcasting has changed, and viewers' interest in the channel has grown significantly. In 2008, STS was headed by Vyacheslav Murugov, who launched such super hits as "Kadetstvo", "6 Frames", "Daddy's Daughters", "Voronins", "Kitchen" and others.
Message
The message of the channel's authors is not so much proclaimed as deciphered. With its content, STS, as it were, declares: we are out of politics and do not use the air to promote any ideas. This is a channel of "weekend and good mood", which gives you the opportunity to relax, immerse yourself in a fantastic world of dreams. We are offered to experience incredible events in a person's life, but still becoming a reality. They have the creators of the broadcasting grid and a certain ironic spectrum in whichview of the world is refracted in a special anecdotal-joking ray. Of course, all this creates a unique integral image that promotes the channel to high rating numbers. Today it is one of the five most popular in Russia and reports that over the years of its foundation, its audience has grown to one hundred million viewers. Throughout its existence, the channel has received 35 TEFI statuettes (national television award for the highest achievements in the field of television arts).
What will happen tomorrow?
Successful commercial project of CTC-Media (a subsidiary of the Swedish media holding Modern Times Group) looks to the future with optimism. The audience targeted by the channel - from 10 to 45 years old (youth and family) - is the most attractive in terms of advertising resource. Today STS is brilliantly competing with the main federal channels, and it is possible that tomorrow it will establish itself as one of the main media projects that form a new, full of positive outlook on our life.
