The Moscow Philharmonic is very significant for the musical life of Russia. Dmitri Shostakovich called it a university. Here, in his opinion, thousands of musicians take a course, as well as millions of listeners (music lovers).

History

The Moscow Philharmonic was founded in 1922. The idea of its discovery belonged to A. Lunacharsky. The very first artistic council of the Moscow Philharmonic was headed by Nikolai Myaskovsky. Young Soviet performers and groups, as well as world celebrities, performed here. All-Union competitions among musicians were held on the basis of the Philharmonic. During the war, the Moscow State Philharmonic did not stop its activities. Concerts for conscripts were held here. Thematic evenings were organized, at which works about the war were played, literary and musical evenings were held.

Since 1945, concert performances of operas have been performed at the Philharmonic, and the competition has resumed. In the 1950s, concerts of the most famous orchestras in the world took place here. In the 60s of the 20th century, the Philharmonic organized an art festival, which was called "Russian Winter". In the 70s, 80s, 90s of the 20th century, artists and orchestras from all over the world came to the capital with concerts. Today the Moscow Philharmonic is the main concert organization in Russia. Orchestra

The Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1951. Artistic director - Y. Simonov. The orchestra has been on tour in more than fifty countries around the world. The musicians took part in more than three hundred recordings. Over the years, the leaders were outstanding conductors, both domestic and foreign. Such great musicians as Leonid Kogan, Arthur Rubinstein, Svyatoslav Richter, Glenn Gould, Yuri Bashmet, Denis Matsuev, Mstislav Rostropovich, David Oistrakh, Vladimir Krainev and others have performed with the orchestra.

Halls

The Moscow State Philharmonic has ten concert venues.

Gnessin Hall. It is located on Povarskaya street, house number 38.

The Sergei Rachmaninoff Hall called "Philharmonia-2". You can get here on free buses.

The Big, Small and Rachmaninov Halls of the Conservatory belong today to the Philharmonic. They are located on Bolshaya Nikitskaya street, house 13.
