Alexey Yakovlev was born in 1773 in the family of a Kostroma merchant, but he was orphaned very early, and I. M. Shaposhnikov, a merchant from St. Petersburg, took custody of the young talent.
Alexey Yakovlev biography: details
Alexey Semenovich did not receive a good education, but from childhood he began to get involved in theater and reading, apparently thanks to this, being still a twenty-year-old youth, he composed his first dramatic sketch - “Desperate Lover”. He adored the poems of Lomonosov and Derzhavin, which inspired him to create his own lyrical poems. Life chance pushed the young Yakovlev with I. A. Dmitrievsky, who later became his friend and spiritual mentor. Dmitrievsky was delighted with the acquaintance, since Alexei Yakovlev had bright external data, enthusiasm and charisma. On the advice of his mentor, the young actor decides to make his debut in the theater. He plays roles in three plays, and all three bring him huge success. Such a high-profile debut provided Yakovlev with a leading place in the troupe of the St. Petersburg theater. He got mainly the main roles, over time his fame grew, and we can say with confidence that until 1800 he reigned supreme inPetersburg scene. He played Yaropolk in V. Ozerov's play Yaropolk and Oleg, Fritz in The Son of Love, Pryamikov in Yabed and many other roles.
Conquest of new peaks
After 1800, Ya. E. Shusherin returned from Moscow to St. Petersburg, but this did not shake Yakovlev's position at all, but gave impetus to new victories. The actor appeared before the audience with Dmitry Donskoy "Dmitry Donskoy", Theseus "Oedipus in Athens", Fingal "Fingal" and others. He toured a lot to Moscow, where he presented his best roles.
Alexey Yakovlev had a lyrical nature, which was reflected in his roles. Many images resonated in the inner world of the actor, so the audience considered him a representative of artistically realistic tragedy.
View from the outside
The triumphs and desperate falls of A. Yakovlev were like bright flashes. Those who could watch his game noted that the actor plays with his heart, not his mind. He did not know the middle, rising either higher than everyone else, or falling too low. Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin called the actor "wild, but fiery", which really corresponded to the ardent Yakovlev. A sonorous voice, an extraordinary talent, a powerful tragic temperament surpassed even Mochalov's talent, despite his striking extremes in art.
Singer Alexei Yakovlev lost his voice before leaving the stage. He showed the full power of his talent before breaking down and dying. A lofty example of a stage image that deserves to be remembered with admiration by contemporaries to this day.
Recent yearslife
Yes, the life of an actor is all about highs and lows. Many biographers claim that the reason for Yakovlev's spree was his unsuccessful love. Addictions to spree along with fans of his work made the actor unbalanced, the character became rude and arrogant. In 1813, in a fit of delirium tremens, he attempted suicide.
Before retiring in 1815, Alexei Yakovlev transferred his crown roles to Bryansky, and a few years later he died.
Finishing
In November 1817, Alexei Semenovich Yakovlev was buried at the Volkovo cemetery. An inscription was carved on the monument, which truly corresponds to reality “I had envious people, I did not know rivals.” In 1827, a collection of his works was published in St. Petersburg, which included the play "Desperate Lover", lyrical and satirical works, as well as poems and sayings.
