In 2009, a new television series with elements of comedy, drama and musical was released. Its key highlight was that the roles in it were played by professional singers and dancers, and part-time actors. "Chorus" is also known in Russia under the name "Losers", and its original name is Glee. The series was nominated for 19 Emmys, four Golden Globes, six Satellite Awards, and 57 other nominations. And this is an occasion to tell about it in more detail.
Storyline
The series begins by meeting Will Schuester, a Spanish teacher at William McKinley High School. In his youth, he studied in it. In the good old days, the school had a choir, with which Will has the best memories. He was at the peak of his glory - a cheerleading team, a cheerleading team. And Will decides to resurrect the choir.
The series, the actors for which are chosen just perfectly, is tied up at this very moment. In the momentrecruitment of participants in the vocal group, the viewer and gets acquainted with the main characters. Subsequently, the plot is built on an intriguing, exciting interweaving of their own lines. There is a question of relationships, first love, inequality, family difficulties, friendship. Heroes for the first time face injustice, competition, the need to deal with everyday difficulties. They know grief, joy, feel the sweetness of victory and the pain of defeat. And the viewer experiences it all with them.
Lea Michele
As already mentioned, the actors were very well chosen for all the roles in the series. "Chorus" in the story has a solid musical component. Over 300 original and cover songs were performed over 6 seasons. And most often, Lea Michele, who played Rachel Berry in the series, pleases the viewer with her vocal abilities. This is a girl with huge ambitions, dreams of a career on Broadway and a crown of incredible size on her head. However, she is an outcast at school. In general, Rachel is a positive and kind character, but her arrogant behavior and willingness to hit heads for a career (even if it's the heads of her friends) can be annoying.
Lea Michele herself says that for the qualitative embodiment of the image of the heroine, she drew inspiration from her biography. The singer assures that in her youth she was not popular and also experienced complexes.
Cory Monteith
It is also impossible not to mention him, talking about the contribution that the actors made to the series. The choir, like any other group, needs a leader. And if among the girlsit was Rachel, then among the guys it was Finn Hudson, played by Cory Monteith, a Canadian musician. In the series, his character had a relationship with Berry (not immediately, of course). Remarkably, in real life, Corey, who played Finn, dated Lea Michele, who played Rachel.
Unfortunately, on July 13, 2013, the actor was found dead at the Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver. Corey has had drug problems since he was a teenager. He was in treatment, he wanted to get rid of the addiction, and it seemed that he quit forever. But an autopsy showed that the cause of his death was a heroin overdose, aggravated by the effects of alcohol.
Corey was a talented actor and musician - he played the guitar and sang very well. After his death, filming of the series continued. The film did not beat the reason for what happened - and this can be understood. In the series, Kurt Hummel, Finn's half-brother, said the phrase that explained everything: “A lot of people are interested in knowing how he died. But I think it's better to talk about how he lived. And this series really turned out to be very heavy and sincere.
Male cast
Of course, these are not all actors. The choir initially consisted of several people. It included Kurt Hummel, played by Chris Colfer with an amazing counter-tenor. Perhaps the kindest character from the series, who for a long time suffered resentment and mockery because of his orientation. Subsequently, by the way, he became the half-brother of Finn Hudson, as their single parents got married.
And other characters can pleaseChoir viewers. The actors made the series much more beautiful - if someone else had been selected for the role, everything would have looked different. The series featured dancer Harry Shum Jr., who played non-singing choir member Mike Chung. And the football player, friend of Finn and member of the Noah Puckerman choir, was played by Mark Salling. In order to be called to an audition, he sent his videos to a hundred agents. And he auditioned 5 times - even for the lead role of Finn Hudson. Mark is a talented musician, although he was arrested in 2015 on suspicion of possession of child pornography.
There was also a character on the show named Artie Abrams, played by Kevin McHale. For all 6 seasons, the actor was in a wheelchair, as his character was paralyzed from the waist down. And, as Kevin himself said, it was damn difficult. After all, he had to sit in a chair and restrain the desire to rush into the dance, while others fully participated in the numbers.
Female cast
The role of the arrogant cheerleader and choir member Quinn Fabray was perfectly performed by Dianna Agron, an actress and singer from Georgia of Russian-Jewish origin. At first it appears as a negative character, but in the end it turns out to be a very kind and sincere person. The heroine of Dianna wears a crucifix - the actress said that for her it was a novelty. The singer shares: the fact that her character, according to the plot, “rolled down” from the peak of popularity to the bottom, irritated her Jewish friends a little. After all, Quinn was the president of the chastity club, and then she got pregnant, and even cheated on her young man, at the age of 15.
Even in the series was the outrageous heroine Mercedes Jones, played by Amber Patrice Riley. Surprisingly, the girl did not pass the casting in American Idol, although her voice is amazing. Singer-dancer Heather Morris played the goofy Brittany S. Pierce, while Naya Rivera played Santana Lopez, a bitchy woman who turns out to have a sensitive soul inside. And the last main female character is Tina Cohen-Chang. She was played by Jenna Noel Ashkowitz, a singer and writer whose acting career began at the age of 3 with Sesame Street.
It must be admitted that the Glee series turned out to be very interesting, exciting and unusual. The actors and characters are excellent. You can tell a lot about the composition - several dozen people took part in the series. But it's better to take the time to watch and get a live experience.
