Pskov is a relatively small city, which, however, has a developed infrastructure. So, for 200 thousand inhabitants there are as many as three theaters that work and delight the audience with their performances. More theaters of Pskov are described in the article.

Pskov Drama Theatre. A. S. Pushkin

This is the oldest theater in the city. It got its name in honor of the famous Russian poet, because the theater building was founded in the year of the 100th anniversary of his birth - in 1899. It was completed by 1906, and since then, for more than a century, the institution has been pleasing the residents of Pskov.

The Pushkin Theater (Pskov) during its history served as a stage for many famous actors. So, among them we can name E. Karchagina-Aleksandrovskaya, E. Vitogran and many others, even such stars as F. Chaliapin and A. Duncan performed here.

Note that the theater has received many awards, and in recent years the actors have performed in many theaters not only in Russia but also abroad.

Repertoire

The Drama Theater (Pskov) shows many different productions, including comedies, melodramas, dramas and even children's fairy tales, including those based onworks by A. S. Pushkin. Among the most famous comedies are "Clinical Case" and "A Man Doomed to Happiness", and among the dramas - "Dance of Delhi" and "Four Pictures of Love".

The production of "Clinical Case" is one of the most favorite among residents and guests of Pskov. It tells the story of a we althy man who is suddenly in trouble from all sides, both at work and in his personal life. As a result, the man had to surround himself with a halo of lies. How he will extricate himself can be found in the play.

The theater is trying to make its repertoire interesting, so the playbill can see performances not only for fans of the classics, but also modern performances. So, they include, for example, the work of Vasily Sigarev "Ladybugs return to earth." This is a performance about modern life on the outskirts of a big city, in a house next to a cemetery. The gloomy atmosphere, however, does not depress, because it is here that faith in the best lives - in ladybugs.

Another modern performance - "Valentine's Day". This is a sad story about how fate sometimes takes a turn, and that we can find ourselves with those who were not expected to be around.

Puppet show

The Puppet Theater (Pskov) was also founded a long time ago. So, it has been working since 1964, more than 50 years. Over the years, the theater has been led by well-known directors, such as Alexander Veselov and Vladimir Miodushevsky. From the staff at the moment in the theaterthere are 14 people, which is quite enough for both productions and maintenance of inventory.

Note that the theater often travels to other cities with tours, while taking all the equipment with it.

Repertoire

Despite the fact that other theaters in Pskov also show performances for children, the popularity of the puppet theater does not decrease from this. And indeed, younger children perceive performances with puppets better. In order to not be bored watching the performances, the institution offers more than 20 different productions, including such productions beloved by young viewers as "By the Command of the Pike", "Masha and the Bear", "Gosling", "Fly-Tsokotuha", "Little Red Riding Hood" and many other children's stories. It makes no sense to talk in more detail about how good our folk tales are, because everyone knows and loves them since childhood. Artwork for children is always filled with kindness and morality, which teaches kindness, courage and friendship.

The puppet theater makes performances not only for children, its repertoire also includes performances for schoolchildren and adults, such as Faust and The Man Who Wasn't There. If everything is clear about the production of Faust, then the second deserves special attention. Surprisingly, in 2001, the Puppet Theater found an unpublished work by the famous writer Sergei Dovlatov, which he wrote specifically for this theater, to be shown to schoolchildren. It took some time to prepare the play, and in 2003ceremonial premiere took place. Today, the performance is staged not only by the Pskov institution, but also by other theaters in the country.

Green Theater

Pskov theaters are not limited to traditional ones. So, the most interesting in this regard is the Green Theater (Pskov), which is located directly under the open sky. This is an amazing structure that resembles ancient Roman amphitheatres, but instead of steps there are green hills, on which wooden benches are located, painted in a pleasant light brown color. Below, in the recess, is a wooden stage.

It should be said that the theater has become a favorite place for citizens not only on concert days, this pleasant place immediately became one of the new symbols of Pskov. Of course, it is difficult to call it a full-fledged theater in the traditional sense of the word. Usually in the summer, the Green Theater hosts festive and concert events, as well as film screenings. The outdoor establishment is closed during winter.
